I keep breaking my *%*#$# PHONE

So I fixed my screen, I'm so damn happy with EVDO REV A + GPS + gmail and wm6.1 with all the cool features. (BUILT IN YOUTUBE!!! WMP PLAYS EVERYTHING)

Today I'm charging it in my car with the charger from my old phone. I smell melting plastic, I figure it was something outside of the car. The charger gets hot, stops working. I pull the phone off and realize what the smell was. Phone still worked so I was ok with it. Later today, I go to charge the phone before I sleep. OH EOIRUEWOIU#$)(%*$ its finished.

USB slot is finished. No charging for me. I'm going to buy another. I'm a real idiot. I love this phone but this is killing me. Flarkeajfdlsakfjda;dfj;a

Any easy suggestions or quick fixes? I'm pretty freakin pissed about this. I'll probably just sell it on ebay and grab another one locally for $200ish.

wow, something is not right if a charger is basically literally burning out the USB slot......
I would say problem with phone or the charger, cause it unless the inside of your car was so hot to do that to the plastic I think you would have melted also.....

Hmm, take the battery out and charge it in an external charger? Can you see what the problem is? If the USB port is just melted, you could find someone with the tools and expertise to desolder it and put a new one on.

eBay, that's where I get mine. I don't trust car chargers. It's better to buy extra batteries, charge them up in an external charger, and then carry the spares with you to swap out when you need them. I find that two batteries are usually enough for heavy usage, but for really heavy days, I use three.

Where did you buy the charger from? If from the carrier, return everything to stock on your phone and take it back to the store. Tell them what the charge did and they should replace it. If its an after-market charger,.......just start saving your money for the google phone.

The OP stated that it was a charger from an old phone, hence his fault. Or at least in the eyes of the carrier/phone manufacturer...

Yeah, because i've been using my 6700 charger for the last 3 days.
