Relocking on the new official Sprint ROM
 

Ok so I am going to unlock and get a nice custom ROM like I always did on my Mogul... Anyways.. What about relocking and going back to the new official ROM? the wm 6.1 ROM that just came out... Im not sure how to do that..

I think I use the 0.40 unlocker and then just flash to the official ROM? and it will overwrite it with the ROM's SPL?

I want to verify because if I get a problem I want to be able to revert back and use my insurance with Sprint..

Once you flash any of the official ROMS over any custom ROM, it automatically re-locks your phone. You'll be fine

im on the official Sprint rom... Or i was.. now im on OMJ's new ROM
What if I flash a rom that was based off the leaked ROM? I assume that will work right? i heard it wouldnt and i wanted to be sure..
and be sure if i can flash back

Only relocks if you are using 0.40. The first post of the unlocker thread covers the details about the versions. The others do not get overwritten as there were many that got in trouble with it. The unbricking thread, and my "dangers of downgrading" thread cover this a bit too (all of these are stickies and discussed in first post)

You can use the stock rom on a locked SPL without any problems

I cant use the 0.40 on the custom and then use a stock gps rom?

0.40 won't use the GPS radio, so no. Once you flash anything with GPS that unlocker won't be useful for anything.
You can flash back to an official ROM at any point (assuming you don't go from GPS to non-GPS) but you will be unlocked. Will they notice? Probably not, but there's no guarantees.

Well this kinda sucks lol...
Hopefully ImCokeMan can come out with something to relock now that the new Official GPS ROM is out... We wont need to flash back to the Stock Non GPS ROM...

:evil4:Its really not anything to stress over. Im currently on my 5th mogul and every mogul ive exchanged has had DCDs ROM on it except for one when I tried to use No2Chems 5067 and throughly bricked my device*. 90% of reps wont even notice at all, and some are cool and will just plain overlook the custom software.


*Im pretty sure I muffed the process up somewhere, when flashing. I dont want you Chem boys to come after me for saying anything negative about the No2Chem roms

Yeah, I got a trade up for free mogul -> touch a few months ago, the mogul I mailed back (mailing because of SERO) was unlocked and they've yet to say anything to me.

actually you can and thats what i meant, using the 0.40 that will get you locked with the stock spl from the gps rom as long as its for your carrier

To be honest im not really sure exactly what went wrong, but I had symptoms consisting of: extremely random freeze ups, the phone shutting down automatically, and just all around poor performance. I was using ppckitchen and kept getting random errors during the re-image so... ya know...

Oh..
So i can use the 0.40 over the 2.31 spl? and then flash the GPS Official ROM without messing up my phone?
I just kind of want to get it straight so I dont mess something up horribly

You wont mess up anything by downgrading the SPL like Cokeman said. Just don't downgrade to a non-gps rom!

Uhm! I relocked my unlocked phone by downgrading to cokeman 0.4. Then flashed it with the original stock (6.0) then upgraded to official gps rom. Now my touch is showing vogue 2.01. It works.

Hello, I just purchase a Sprint Mogul a week agon and it came with ROM version 3.35.651.2, Radio 3.35.04 PRL version 60610 PRI version 2.00_003 WM6.0 if I upgrade to the new 3.56 ROM HTC released and it breaks something, from what I have been reading as long I am am downgrading from a version 3 ROM to a version 3 ROM I will be OK?

Well it looks like your at the Stock ROM right now... so if you go to the new release by HTC you will be fine because it is an official release...


if it breaks it and you are NOT unlocked then Sprint will fix it..


By the way this is the HTC Touch forum not the Mogul!
