Windows Mobile Device Center woes...

Almost at my witts end with this problem.

Running Vista Ultimate 64 bit and the HTC Touch from bell with the latest rom. When I try to setup the device I get the error There is a problem with your connection. Please disconnect and reconnect your device and try again.

I have tried again and again. Still nothing happening. I have uninstalled and reinstalled WMDC and still have the same problem.

Any ideas?

Re: Windows Mobile Device Center woes...

check inside of your connections tab on the device for usb to pc...make sure you uncheck where it says enable advanced network funtionality or something like that...then plug the device back in...allow for the drivers to load and install...then launch wmdc

Re: Windows Mobile Device Center woes...

Thanks for the reply.

I have done that. Unchecked the advanced, let the software install and then started WMDC. I wait and it does not show connected after three minutes. I disconnect the phone and reconnect it. I hear the Windows noises that tell me it sees the device but WMDC will not auto connect to the device.

Anything else I can do beside realize that Vista is still a work in progress?

Re: Windows Mobile Device Center woes...

check your connection settings and also check if you're running windows defender or live onecare make sure active sync is checked as allowed via firewall permissions

Question Re: Windows Mobile Device Center woes...

All settings look good.

Just found something that may shed a little light on it. In the Comm Manager there is an ActiveSync section. When I go into that it shows last sync just before I left work and there is an attection required (I want to sync with home and use the work connection to move files back and forth). When I select the attention required it tells me communications error: cannot communicate with the PC because of the following Remote Network error (Error 60 and shows the last attempt time.

It really is getting annoying. I do appriciate your time looking into this problem. It seems when I change the connection to the advanced network sharing WMDC sees the unit and when I deselect it the unit is not seen. I have tried with firewall and virus scanner turned off. I do not use the other programs as listed.

Any helpd is greatly appriciated.

Re: Windows Mobile Device Center woes...

Is this problem stumping or what?

Is anyone else having problems with sync on WMDC 6.1?

Re: Windows Mobile Device Center woes...

I'm now running DHarvey's Vista ROM with no problems syncing my Sprint Touch with Vista x64 Ultimate. I did have some minor issues when I ran the stock ROM with connectivity but I ended up resolving those.

Though I'm sure you probably checked this out already I'll post it anyway.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...eshooting.mspx

To resolve my issue of only being able to sync my Touch once per reboot I had to uninstall the remote adapter per the troubleshooting guide.
Quote:
  • The driver installation may not have completed successfully. If you think this may be the case, follow these steps:
    • Keep your device connected
    • From the desktop, go to Start > Start Search
    • Enter "Device Manager" or "devmgmt.msc" to launch the Device Manager window
    • Look under the "Network adapters" node for "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter". If this is not present, skip to step 5. Otherwise, right-click "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" and choose to "Uninstall"
    • Look under the "Mobile Devices" node for "Microsoft USB Sync". If this is not present, skip to step 6. Otherwise, right-click "Microsoft USB Sync" and choose to "Uninstall"
    • Disconnect and reconnect your device. Your device driver will re-install and Windows Mobile Device Center will launch.
