playing music with the screen off

is it possible to play music with the screen off and locked?
I would like to play music but turn off the screen to save the battery and possibly lock the screen or buttons so they are not accidently pressed.
sorta like use it as a walkman in my pocket.
When i press the power button the music stops.

You can go into Windows Media Player options and click on the buttons tab at the bottom. Then select toggle and choose a button (I use the enter button). This will turn the screen off and on. You could probably use this in conjunction with S2U2 if you wanted to make sure it was locked.

Why is windows media player the only music player that allows this? There are so many other media players which are better but lack that one feature. Drives me nuts! There must be another way.

use S2P it even turns the screen off for you

I would say S2U2 for the locking, then S2P for the player. they work in conjunction with each other. and you can turn off the screen and it will be locked. plus S2P shows album art.

tcpmp and coreplayer have the option to turn off the screen. you just can't do it with the power button. you have to assign it to a different key. go to settings->hot keys, find screen on/off, and assign a key to it.

do a aearch, i ju saw a zip f that makes screen black and to get screen back you can use camera button o assign diff. button. but i like s2

I use the sprint music player, which allows me to turn off the screen when I have it connected to my Stereo Bluetooth headphones

There are little WM apps that turn the screen off while leaving everything running.
One is included in the PHM PowerToys distribution (same guy that made the favorite registry editor everyone uses):

The music player the comes with the Okta Touch (The New Zealand Version) allows you to turn of the screen with the power button and keeps playing.
