Change S.IP DUN User name to same as above (yournumber@vzw3g.com)

Menu->OK-> Let it soft reset

Now you can use the option above...Select Programs->Internet sharing...make an ActiveSync connection and click connect on the phone...all set!

Ok Magicality...that was WAY too easy. It worked like a charm. In fact, I'm typing this on my desktop pc connected through the XV6900.

I knew there must be a way. Thanks a million for the quick help. I hope other VZW users read this thread so they won't get bald (like me) from tearing their hair out! :drunken:

I followed the instructing posted here to get tethering to work on my xv6900 phone. And, it is working like a charm. I will check my Verizon bill to verify that I'm not getting charged for this service.

I agree 100% that this should NOT be an additional charge since I am paying for the UNLIMITTED DATA CONNECTION already!

I am a newbie to PPCGeeks... but I am so impressed with everyone's knowledge out here that I'm already addicted!! I spend a lot of time reading and LEARNING from you guys! THANKS!! =D>

I am not sure if it is $15 generally it will be around $39.99 something like that ...well I do tether but won't cross more then 200MB a month and using it for past 3 months and didn't see any charges.

internet on phone is 39.99 but modem option is 14.99. i understand that in the settings you can make the phone act as a modem kind of " secretly"??? . i have no dsl access where i live so i rely soley on my xv6900

it is an additional $15 a month along with the data plan/bundle, but when it comes to trying to bypass verizon's tethering fees, everyone must be careful as your wireless bill with them will get bigger without paying the extra $15, and i was told by some of the customers and a fellow mod that they'll catch tethering even if you're trying to bypass the tethering fees. i tried it 4 years ago and got my last bill right after my contract with them expired as of February of 2004 with an xv6600, and my temper rose to a fever pitch as soon as i saw the amount of my last VZW invoice which was $397.82, and that was with a good discount i was getting as well.

I was able to get an internet connection using the Wmodem. Thanks for the tip! I'm assuming the phone# to dial is #777?

Using this method, Verizon won't bill me for tethering?

Yes, I changed my dun nai. Since this change is what makes it "invisible" to Verizon, then why do you recommend using wmodem instead of just utilizing the Internet Sharing program already loaded on my phone? Aren't both methods using the phone the identical way to access the internet?

As long as you change both username entries I mentioned before you will be OK. Just make sure you don't exceed your monthly limit (usually 5gb) and don't run applications on your pc using the tethered internet you wouldn't on your phone (i.e. bittorrent/emule/etc).

I just upgraded my XV6900 to rev.A and GPS. I'm trying to set up Internet Sharing but when I put in ##778, it rings and I get a Verizon automated message. Shouldn't it go straight into the application so I can edit my MIP profile and all that stuff?

Thanks,
uptmepo777

Looks like you let the sprint carrier cabs run or you are using non ## code compatable dialer. Try ##778# and see what happens as thats the sprint epst code :P. Which rom are you using and what dialer? You should also be able to get to the epst from your file explorer under windows and click on it.
