Alarm ring question?

I can't seem to get the alarm rings to repeat. I'm using the phone as an alarm clock when I travel and the stock tones are only a couple of seconds long. So, I select the tone and make sure the checkbox for Repeat is checked, but when the alarm goes off, it only plays the tone for whatever is set time - no repeats. Luckily, I get up with the first ring anyway, but I can't afford to sleep thru that and then be late for work. Anybody else seen this? Oh yeah, I have an XV6900 on Verizon, stock (so far!)
