New Sprint rom on Alltel

I've tested it quite a bit - it does work with skipped customization. The GPS on the other hand does not get a lock. It want's to, by that I mean GPS View finds the sats and loses them repeatedly. Something is missing (ppst update? I don't know)

Here's what I've done so far. On the shipped rom, ran GPS viewer and tried to get a lock for 5 minute.

Loaded OMJv2 for Alltel - no lock. Ran the 040108 PPST update (fixing the SID number) and no lock. it wouldn't even run for that matter.

Any ideas? the new radio seems to poll the GPS receiver more often. If GPS Viewer is any indicator, the sat receiver numbers start flashing at least twice as fast after about 5 seconds of use. but it never locks

update, no luck getting gps to lock on the new rom/radio. I even did something stupid andlet the customization run on the new sprint rom. That messed me up good. Had to go back and reload the released Alltel rom, then start all over. fun.

edit: still had problems getting the data service to run. a call to tech support andI discovered the carrier customization changes your login info under the security setting of EPST. once that was fixed, I was back in serive.

No locks for me under 3.43 radio, stock or even using OMJ's new 3.03 custom rom. Has any other Alltel user gotten it working?

Re: New Sprint rom on Alltel

I upgraded my radio using that rom then loaded dharvery's 715 rom. I'm almost always getting locks using GPS Today in under a minute.

I'm using an Alltel Touch.

Could you tell me what the current username should be on the *#0000# screen? I let the Sprint PPST run and screwed some stuff up. I already set the MSL Code back to 000000 and changed my internet settings to alltel.

But under the device information screen the Current Username is showing sprint stuff. I think it should be mynumber@alltel.net.

Tried a search.. nothing came up ..

So if my PRI reads 2.03_003 (using the new Sprint radio with OMJ clean ROM)

how do I go about changing it back to 2.01_011???

I ran this tonight .. and it did nothing didnt update the PRI at all. Its a cab file as well. Really weird!

Any ideas??

Does the PRL and PRI have to be both same say from Alltel? or can the PRL be from Sprint and PRI from Alltel?

I have terrible cell reception in my office..so I was hoping the PPST ALLTEL would fix it or atleast help with it.

Thanks!

Rick

the PRL is what determines the cell towers you use, best I can figure. so using the alltel ones may not be good for you if a dominant sprint area and ssuch. of course you could also face roaming charges otherwise. There's a thread around here about folks forcing roaming to work off different towers. you may try using different ones but watch your roaming indicator. it seems best to use the PRI from alltel but im not too familiar with it.

Re: New Sprint rom on Alltel

thould be number@alltel.net and the password can be one of two things i think...
1) blank and the ESN number should be used or 2) alltel and youll know it will work

Other things to note
A-KEY
Authentication Key =

Home SID/Home NID
Home SID/NID #1 = (Make Sure this is what you had before the upgrade, mine gets deleted every customization i do!) so for me its 1236/65535 (first is area specific, second is the same for all smartphones i think)

M.IP Default Profile
NAI = number@alltel.net
MN HA SPI Value = 101
MN AAA SPI Value = 3E8
