ATI Imageon Drivers for Touch finally?

I noticed that the NFSFAN's Custom BELL WM6.1 ROM upgrade contained ATI drivers so I thought I might give it a try. Lo-and-behold my Windows Media player now plays videos smoothly and my multimedia apps can be used. Previously if I touched a button on the screen, it would cause everything to freeze for a second or two.

It's not the magical cure I thought it would be - my generation 1 ipaq ran multimedia apps faster at half of cpu speed.
The Today screen refreshes are still quite choppy, oh and dialing is still a little delayed but I am starting to believe that has more to do with the contacts lookup functionality than anything else. Still.. 400mhz should feel a little faster.
Perhaps more drivers and speed tweaks are coming down the road.

Still if anyone uses any type of multimedia apps, these drivers are a must.

Has anyone else noticed this? I'm really interested to see if directdraw is finally working. It would be a step in the right direction at least as far as imageon drivers go.

Also, I am EXTREMELY happy with ghettofreeryder's V700 ROM and do not want to change. Is there any way to get this driver installed in that ROM? If not, how would I go about dis-assembling the ROM myself to change the drivers(and whatever files i need) and then rebuild it as it is but with the drivers?

theyre in JD's last few ROMs too. they really dont make a huge difference and from personal experience i couldnt tell a difference.

The driver is there, yes, but its still not being fully used by the OS so its only 1/10th utilized in its current form. nothing to get over excited about really. SO far teh best results reported are ever so slightly better video playback but thats about it

So what would need to be done to optimize the driver? If it can be installed in ROM and boot successfully then there must be a way to use it to its potential. I'm interested to see where this goes.

dunno myself i know no2chem has been trying for a while now over on the titan side, so you know if hes having trouble its pretty complicated.

he has done a pretty damn good job at it i played some video on my mogul and it was flawless even low qulaity video was still pretty good.i cannot wait util he starts on a vogue ROM i myself am working on learning to port things over so maybe with our support no2chem will have the support to be comfortable releasing a vogue bleeding edge ROM.

This would be freakin awesome. I would be willing to bet that the Vogue has the potential to be as fast if not faster than the Diamond.

I know a bunch of guys over in the Kaiser forum at X-developers are working on overclocking the MSM7x00 processor and seem to be making some progress. If the Diamond drivers can be optimized to work at their maximum potential on the Vogue and the guys over at Xda are able to successfully overclock the MSM7x00 processor then we would have one hell of a machine.

I really think this is going to be possible and I support no2chem to the fullest. He was my #1 chef when Vogue custom ROMs were a new thing.

If the overclocking project is successful and the Diamond drivers are finally optimized then we have the potential to create the perfect ROM here...

i am very willing to support this project. i believe we should start a a group project willing to donate their time to porting all that is possible over to the touch. i am willing to be apart of the project. if anyone thinks this is worth pursuing then let me know and i will start a thread to begin the project.

If we got the video drivers, then this phone will last me a LONG time. I usually upgrade a lot, but I'm happy with the Touch, I just hate how painfully slow it is at scrolling through the Programs menu and choppy video. Rev A / GPS is awesome, so now we just need some video drivers. My 700wx scrolled smoother than this thing lol.

do you have the touch flo sound on. if so turn it off and it will scroll so much smoother. also i have been hittin up no2 for help with ROMs on the vogue and from what i understood is that he plans on waiting until he gets his bleeding edge ROMs stable on the titan as he does not have a vogue. also vetvito put has put forth great effort on this project he just ran into some major road blocks that i think with the help of no2chem could be quickly resolved.
