Getting RESOLUTION to the corrupt storage card issue

I too am suffering from the storage card corruption issue as many of you have... and I too want it resolved!

I think the way we should approach this issue is calling HTC directly and putting in a trouble ticket. I just got off the phone with them, and surprisingly a real live person picked up the phone immediately. I didn't have to go through any automated system wasting time. With that said, the person acted like they really weren't aware of this corruption issue. I also told them they could search here (PPCGeeks) to see numerous people experiencing this issue.

I think it is EXTREMELY important that each of us call so that they can document the severity of this issue and how wide-spread it is. The link below has all of their contact numbers throughout the world. The number for the United States is 866-449-8358.

Please call them and professionally tell them how this is affecting you. This is the only way this issue will get resolved.

it's been happening since the Mogul days. I don't think it'll be fixed...or maybe it has on that device. I know it's happened with the Touch, but since I got a 4GB SDHC card, it hasn't happened anymore.

i have a hunch that it might be because of some people using regular micro SD instead of the recommended SDHC

Thats why my 1GB card got fried, and i had to use the 512 one that is provided. Now i know so when i buy a new one.

i was having issues with my 4gb SDHC mem card until i flashed with a wm6.1 rom created with the ppcgeeks kitchen...not sure if that fixed it of if it's a coincidence but no issues going on a month now when befor it use to corrupt almost everyday everyday....also just a side thought but what do you think would happen if HTC was to visit this site and find all these custom roms...would they try and shut it down??

I stopped using my minisd card for anything except media (videos/mp3's..) - there's enough space on the touch to keep everything (including temporary files) on the local storage.. No corruptions running this way.

Funny thing about this whole corrupt SD card issue is that I did have it when i first got my touch and at this time I completely forgot about this issue. I would also assume that it has to do with the newer 6.1 ROMs, but I don't have any proof. I haven't seen any corruption in months!

If you are still having this issue, try one of the newer ROMs (Leaked Sprint, Official Kitchen, New Alltel, etc)

I'm going to try a new SDHC memory card. I am using an old card from a previous phone and was not aware that the Touch should be using the newer memory-type. Hopefully this will resolve the problem!

no offense OP but this is going to go in the same direction the good/bad Touch screen thread went. A lot of threats and lets grab the torches and start a linch mob, with no results in the end. Pestering Sprint or HTC wont do anything, i can nearly promise that, other than waste your time.

If there is a chance its fixed, at least wait for the ROM update which should be any day now to see if it is fixed before picking up the torch if you really feel the need still. But like i said youll just wast precious hours of your life with no result in the end id be willing even to go 99.99% to that. there is no ryhme or reason to when this strikes people- theres no common denominator that causes it to happen

Well it's pretty weak that Sprint put out a phone with this corruption issue... but it's completely fixed in any ROM based of the "Leaked" 6.1 release...

You have to use some common sense too...

Clearly the original problem revolved around stand-by and SD card use...

So...

- Don't use ringtones on your SD card
- Don't use your SD card for any kind of cache (outlook, IE, Opera, etc.)
- Don't use GPS maps stored on the card, unless you are very careful to exit the program before powering off...
- Don't install programs to SD
- Don't use S2U2 backgrounds from SD card...

hell, just don't use the SD card for anything but storage... and when you access the data, make sure that your device doesn't power down... or you can have some serious corruption issues...

The only problem I ever had, (before I used S2U2,) was that camera would sometimes get activated in my pocket, and since it's saving to the SD card, you can have issues...

My typical problem is the DCIM folder becoming corrupt... but nothing else, so I was able to copy everything off, and format...

That being said, don't expect a fix for this, ever--unless we fix it ourselves...
