The end result is now I get a popup windows that offers the following:
"Error Code: 11, PPP Connection Error".

Tech Support at Verizon thought "it might be a Network Issue"...

I had the same issue and they told me the same thing (so at least their consistant).

The Tech swore that there was something hung in the switch with my network connection and it looked like I was trying to use a different device to access the network a second time. They opened a ticket and said they would contact me when they were ready to have me re-test,... yeah, right,... like that's going to happen,... that was Sat (31-5-2008 ),... they have yet to call,... but I'm working again.

I decided to activate my VX6800 using vzw.com equipment activation with my ESN to see if I could get DATA working on my Mogul. I figure if it's on their end, neither would work, right?

Well my mogul fired right up and worked fine,... so I switched right back to my VX6900 Vogue using VZW and the ESN,... well it worked too. So I don't know if they straightened something out or if by cycling it through the activation, reprogramming (*22899), and soft reset it cleared itself up,... been running just fine since Sunday (1-6-2008 ).

One last thought, what makes me think it's important for the "Activation" of an old phone before you modify the RADIO on the new one goes back several years to hacking Moto RZRS on VZW,... if you follow the HowardForums experts, their instructions will tell you to move your line to another phone while conducting extensive hacking. This was to us UI's from other Carriers (like Telus - which was java enabled) on a VZW RZR,... gosh, I can't believe I used to spend hours doing that!! ;)

I had that exact issue. I have a xv6800 and I had flashed it to the 5067 no2chem rom. I had to return the phone so I returned the phone back to the original rom and bootloader. Once that happened I could no longer make data calls. (bad username or password error) I screwed with the phone for a while and ended up with the error code 11. The phone worked fine other than data calls. I called verizon and the guy ended up removing my data plan then recreated it and all was well. Two things to note, the guy said he wasn't supposed to do that (I'm not sure if everyone will have this capability...you might need to go through a couple of techs) and I had to recreate my wireless sync account logon...no big deal though. Hope this helps

Originally I used the two phone thing becuase I did the sprint rom/kitchen thing before I did the ESN change online (in MyAccount). But I have since done one additional flash through the kitchen and two hard resets (one for the new flash and one to fix an active sync issue) and never had to call.

Wow...as Tech Support for VZW, I will probably no longer believe any smartphone user when they tell me their phone just 'quit working' lol. I have to say, while I don't blame you for playing with your phone, I myself have made a few tweaks including changing the case for the black sprint CDMA shell, I would encourage you to take a little responsibility if you're going to 'cross that line', and potentially brick your phone. Add the insurance for $5, and when you go too far, let Assurion send you another one. Nothing, and I mean *NOTHING*, is more frustrating than when a customer calls in, knows darn good and well why the phone isn't working, and plays dumb while we try in vain to fix it. It's difficult enough to get the legitimate problems of a 65 million customer network resolved in timely manners without spending hours trying to fix something that cannot be fixed, because we are not given correct information.

I hear ya, vzwtechbill!!! I have the same problems in my field.

I've flashed my XV6900 a few times, only after the first time did my phone need to be re-authenticated. When I tried making a call, a recording told me I needed to do it, so I called Verizon and it was done 3 or 4 minutes later! Great support.

However, it would be nice to have the stock XV6900 ROM (with radio) to go back to, or have in reserve. I haven't been able to find one, or info on an updated official ROM for Rev A.

Any insight?

Re: Verizon Users who FLASH [their roms]

Okay, I visited the PPCGeeks' Kitchen, and installed No2Chem's most recent OS build, (CE OS 5.2.19213 - Build 19213.1.0.4) and now have the ROM at: 3.49.NO2.5066. The Radio is still: 3.35.04.

After installing, I removed the battery and did a hard reboot - and found many of my previous settings "kept". I AM able to access and send my email via WiFi, but any direct attempt to do so - over Verizon's lines is a No-Go...!! Ditto with any SMS text messages.

I have reflashed the ROM two more times - with the same results.

In the words of the King of Siam, "Tis a Puzzlement!"

Any suggestions?

I want to preface that I do NOT blame anyone from Verizon's Custom Support Que... it's not, after all, THEIR fault that one of their 65 million customers hacked one of their units and systematically may have either actually bricked the device or, simply over-wrote a registry entry that now blocks a desired command or action.

In all fairness, I've had to blindly trouble-shoot a WiFi connection issue on my son's college computer - 1,800 miles away - while I was commuting to work... and that was without any coffee on-board...! Trust me, when the customer/son says, "This piece of (sic) CRAP (heretofore referred to as: "It") MUST be broken... it won't connect!" - the person on the other end of the phone is now challenged to either hang up, or - take a deep breath, pop a another Tumms and Asprin combo, and - with a lilt of caring in your voice offer to help... all the while mentally musing as to what it would REALLY be like to ask with a steely resolve of Clint Eastwood, "Yeah, and what do you want ME to do about it, Punk?! Feelin' LUCKY...!??!"

Needless to say, it took a few tries before we found where the MAC address was on his unit and what access code permitted control of the router's security. I hadn't played with that info in years... gray matter excused. If the guy/gal on the other end can't actually SEE the problem, and is left to the devises and lack of communication skills of the customer ("Hey, don't you freekin' understand... it just don't work like it did before...!" I wonder why...!) - AND the call taker/technician - regardless of his/her technical prowess, or country of origin) doesn't understand what is rally happening... it doesn't surprise me that such issue occur. In all fairness, the first words out of my mouth - each time I called Verzion... informed the person-in-charge that I must have done something to my precious device whilst tweaking/hacking/modding it. If you're honest, and speak their (technical) language... regardless of the fact Verizon does not recognize any 3rd party altering of their devices and it may have violated the product's warranty... some are really willing to assist you! Bottom line, when the devices come out of the box... THAT is the way the carrier intended you to use it. I fully understand the any tweaking I do to it - is MY responsibility... despite the fact that I'd really like it to work as advertised - WITH the new teaks.

Parental/responsible rant aside... as inquired a few paragraphs above... anyone have any suggestions...?

Sorry. I have a VX6800, now. Retired the VX6700 a few months ago. Just haven't updated the member specs, yet.
