Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

I called and discussed this with the Verizon store closest to my house which I was going to visit on the way home from work today - they referred me to 1-800-922-0204.

So - I called them next.

Although they were not forthcoming with there being any "known" issues with the XV6900, they are sending me an advanced replacement phone - no $50 fee involved. Shipping label to return the original will be in the box. I was told to expect the replacement Tuesday at the latest.

Makes me wish I had kept my XV6800 now. Only reason I chose this over the 6800 was the extra built-in memory.

Anyone want to trade an XV6800 for the replacement XV6900 when it comes in?

count your blessings that you're getting one sent to you; I was told I'd have to bring it in to a store so their technician could examine it! And then pay the $50 deductible if they determined I didn't cause the crack!!!

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

That's ridiculous that they do business like that. Honestly I thought I was going to be SOL.

Either way, I guess I will order some type of protective case for this new phone, something more than the leather POS that Verizon sells.

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

Hey everyone, I need to see if i can return mine to verizon, but i upgraded the radio to 3.42 (for gps ofcourse) and installed DH's Black vista rom. Can anyone post a link on where to find the verizon stock from or one designed to look like the stock rom so I can get my phone fixed/exchanged? Otherwise Im sure verizon will have a nice time lecturing me on the glory of staying with verizon software, which is promptly followed by an angry TOUGH LUCK LOSER! Any help would be appreciated!

Another annoying casing related issue

This thread is long so I skimmed through so maybe someone posted something about this.....but my phone's backing is SO ANNOYING! It slides out randomly exposing the battery when it's swishing around in my purse.....AND it got squished between things and the backing snapped

I know, I know, it's my fault partly, I should invest in a hard case or a rubber silicone skin....but it's annoying how the backing got so loose!! It's almost impossible to not remove the backing because that's how you access the microSD.... and after a few times it gets loose!

HTC needs to step up on their housing design!!!

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

I suspect it will be a refurb since they consider it a replacement and not a new order. I just skimmed through the order confirmation email that I received but it didn't state what the product was or if it were new/refurbed.

For me it doesn't matter if it's a refurb or not - as long as I have a phone that works and doesn't have defects.

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing

why take out the sd card? with 8gb and bluetooth or usb tether you can migrate files all over the place. thats my solution until a new phone is available with easy to access sd on the side as it should be. pre purchase research on this phone at sites like http://www.mobiletechreview.com/phones.htm
said the sd access was a negative so i knew that going into the touch.

on my replacement phone ive taken care not to use the volume slider. there are many other software ways to to that task. so far about a month into it no cracks.

you can check if it is refurbished by going into your tel phone pad. then do ##786# and scroll down to see "refurbished" and it will say yes or no.
