Customization Ideas (Help a NOOB)

I've been lurking for a few days and I think I have the basics down as to what I can do to customize my Sprint Touch. The problem is... there are too many choices!

I would like some suggestions for what to do and where to start. I want a simple and clean layout. On my "home" screen I want:
  • to see all my message alerts... nothing tiny... I want to see them clearly
  • current weather and a few days out, with a quick way to get to upcoming weekend weather
  • my appointments for today and few days out, with a quick way to see the whole week
  • maybe a sports score plugin... I think I have that covered
  • easily accessible contacts
I think I'm going to try a "cube" with some simple customizations. Any ideas to get me started with my "home" would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks Shaun.

I'm definitely looking at that SPB Phone Suite... I'll look at your other ideas too.

I forgot about GPS... that should be on my needs list too... I haven't figured that out as yet.

Google maps and Live Search are good free programs, but you need a internet connection all the time.

TomTom , iGo & Mapnopolis all can be used anytime. The maps are stored on your memory card.

Can you get any of those to talk to you? ...give you directions while you're driving? I have a friend with a Verizon phone that does that very well.

Thanks,

Yes, those are on my list to try. I'd rather not buy MS and PP unless I really need them. I think I'm going to bite on their phone suite however... that's a lot of money if I get all three of those products, but I do like the looks of the SPB stuff.

Thanks!

Re: Customization Ideas (Help a NOOB)

I have mine setup so htc home and my calander are on my home screen. But above them I have 4 mobile shell tabs. One is weather, one is contacts, one is programs, and one pockets plus. When you click on a mobile shell tab its contents appear and the htc home plug is covered by the tabs contents. Click the tab again and its contents hide and htc home and calander reappear. If you click on the pocket plus tab in shell you can add upgo 10 more tabs for whatever plugins you want. I know it sounds confussing but its not and it looks clean but I have access to all of my phone within 2 or 3 clicks max.
