EVDO solution for Cloned 6800/6900!!!!!

thx to pzztgotbagz..ive just posted this solution for using full evdo on a cloned mogul or touch..
usually if u clone a phone, the only internet accesible would be 1x and its pretty slow..thats because your evdo
wont authenticate...pzztgotbagz found the solution..

will need someone else to test this. This was tested using an esn from an active mogul and entering the information on a cloned touch.
1. Change ESN from mogul to touch.
2. Enter mdn and msid via ##msl#.
3. Change all information in M.IP default and M.IP customer to match Mogul.
4. Not needed
5. Open Qpst Version 2.7 build 215
6.Go to Qpst Start Clients EFS explorer Enter MSL
7.Exit efs explorer
8. now open QXDM version 3.09.19
9. Once in QXDM go to NV ITEMs then to hdr_an_auth_passwd_long ITEM 01192 located in the Data Category.
10.Write down all the hex vales skip the first start with password 0-15
11. Now go to QPST service programming
12.Click read from phone
13.Then go to M IP Profile
14.click profile 0
15.then go to AAA shared secret and enter the hex values u wrote down do not use 0x00 just 00 and so on
16.now click ok
17.then click write to phone
18.then exit
19.now go to phone and enter ##778#
20.now go to edit
21.then go to M.IP default profile
22.make sure HA shared secret says secret in lowercase( when i did step #22 my evdo didnt authenticate, i just left it blank)
23.click menu ok then reset

to test if your evdo is authenticated.. clockcycle mentioned just hitting ##33284# and selecting hdr..all the way at the bottom itll tell u if evdo is authenticated..
if it says failed..ur internet wont work...repeat the steps!

because it works for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ENJOY

Now i will take credit for this being that im a noob sometimes myself.

how to use QXDM..(windows xp compatible) i couldnt get it 2 work with vista

2. place phone in ##diag mode. ##3424# for sprint users
3.connect to computer open qxdm and select options.
4.when options is selected. seect communications.
5.whatever com port that your phone is hooked to use it for qxdm.
6.connected
7.instead of seeing nv items you will see nv browser.
8.select. it will take you to a window.
9.look on the left hand side where it says the item #'s and go to item #01192
10.follow the rest of the instructions at the top.

Well, I followed the instructions as the above successfully.

I switch carriers from Telus to Aliant. My phone and text works but I cannot authenticate on the bell network in order to use the internet.

I matched all the EPST settings, but for some reason the M.IP Defult Profile will not accept a change in the NAI setting. Regardless how I do it.

Any ideas?

Ok where kaeslumz sent you was the right track, but wasn't for the same apllication, so you don't follow ALL the steps mentioned in that thread.

##786 resets your phone's ESN etc.. So you don't want to do that in your case.

You do need to get the HDR settings right in ##778 security menu option.

If you did what it suggests in this thread, then all you are missing is your username. On Sprint it's HEXESN@hcm.sprintpcs.com. Don't know what provider you're on, but on Sprint you also do not need the PPP settings, so if you have some and are on Sprint, you should clear them.

Make sure you power your radio off and on so it tries to re-authenticate evdo. (airplane mode on / off)

You can use ##DEBUG (##33284) to view HDR and see if AAA authenticated.

Happy surfing..

Hope that helps,

-CC

P.S. I recommend using QPST to backup and restore the service programming. You still need to do these edits manually though.

Re: EVDO solution for Cloned 6800/6900!!!!!

fawkstrot are u talking about when u are in the program to 2 get the values...or when ur in epst..if ur in the program just select read from phone and 0x00 will change to actual numbers..and what u do is copy them down and put them in the same place of the phone u want 2 get to autheticate evdo..and ur password will be the same if u check back in epst..

fawkstrot 05-29-2008 05:48 PM

Re: EVDO solution for Cloned 6800/6900!!!!!

Ok well I got that far (thanks to you). Here are some things I'm noticing...

On my 6700 under EPST the Security entries HDR AN AUTH Password and PPP Password both have this funky formatted string (the hex).

In my 6900, after I did the edits in this post (and puti n the HEX from 6700 for AAA), the SAME funky formatted string is showing and is showing as AAA Shared Secret under M.IP Default Profile. However, in the Security entries the string isn't showing in HDR AN AUTH Password and PPP Password like it was on the 6700 (both fields are just blank, with my#@vzw3g.com as the usernames above both respective fields).

In fact on the 6700 the AAA Shared Secret and 6900 AAA Shared Secret the values are completely different. The only thing consistent is that the AAA Shared Secret on the 6900 matches up with the HDR AN AUTH Password and PPP Password fields under Security on the 6700.

Any clues?

kaeslumz 05-29-2008 07:53 PM

Re: EVDO solution for Cloned 6800/6900!!!!!

i could not get evdo working for the life of me...i missed 1 value and everything worked after words..look at those passwords closely considering they have these weird strings..

the phone automatically stores the AAA shared secret passcode into the directory of HDR An AUTH passwprd if the hex values are all matching..0-15

one other thing i noticed when i checked out both phones is on customer profile 5 in the
AAA shared secret..the exact numbers from the hex values u find and copy in2 qxdm...where in the area..

for example under mip default..the AAA shared secret was @3"::'akjsw
then in customer profile 1 the AAA shared secret was the exact same passcode as
the one that was in the mogul
then in customer profile 5 the same hex values u get 2 generate the funky passcode were in the AAA shared secret area..so i manually input those in there..

i dont know if it made a difference but i made sure everything was copied..

fawkstrot 05-29-2008 07:59 PM

Re: EVDO solution for Cloned 6800/6900!!!!!

What do you mean if the hex values are all matching 0-15? Sorry for my ignorance.

kaeslumz 05-29-2008 08:11 PM

Re: EVDO solution for Cloned 6800/6900!!!!!

use the program qxdm to read from the original phone your getting these values from.
make sure every value from 0 down to 15 is included when u write them down.

if you already wrote these values 2 the cloned phone..
read the cloned phone as well with the program and see if every value from 0 through value 15 is the exact same.

in my trials and errors the program was not copying everything the same becuase i was missing one value..

Also make sure you make note of the first line, even though in this tutorial it suggests skipping it to 1-15... Just make sure 0-15 are the same, length on mine were different.

i wish i were able to complete this process, but using the method posted above i am not able to read the information from the phone i am trying to clone (samsung upstage m620) it returns: DIAG Error Recieved: Invalid Parameter Response, when trying to read NV item 01192. Everying else has been successfully cloned including ESN and NAI profiles, Phone works perfect, as well as sms. Still stuck on EVDO and 1x. Any suggestions? The touch i am currently trying to clone to, was previously activated and was fully functional on another SPCS account, so i dont kno what to next, any help would be much appreciated.

Hey, could you please post the rest or pm it to me. Tethering is my only internet connection and this 1x isn't gonna work for me. Strange thing is, I've been using this cloned Touch for a couple months and I've always gotten Evdo. Funny thing is, when I changed my ESN, I didn't change any of my M.IP profiles or anything of
that sort. Then one day outta blue, I couldn't connect to the net, or initiate iota. So I updated my
M.IP proflie 1 to match my Samsung M510 and I'm getting 1x only. Without being able to get the password for my default M.IP from my M510, I have no other way of authenticating Evdo, at least no way I know of. So I'd appreciate a pm. I'd be glad to offer my help in any way possible

what does a "cloned" ppc mean? can this be done with a regular ppc not cloned? i have a sprint touch. i think it is the 6800.

Re: EVDO solution for Cloned 6800/6900!!!!!

If you don't know what cloned is, I don't think this thread would apply to your phone, there would be no need. And the Touch isn't the 6800, the Mogul is. The Touch is the 6900

its fustrating indeed afaik were sol, i guess the samsungs nv items are different for that for hdr_an_auth_passwd_long. its quite possible that its somewhere else in the file system or uses something else all together because its not a ppc phone and its a where kind of phone that it is. then again i wouldnt kno, because while i can follow instructions well, i dont kno the first thing about hacking the file system. i still appreciate the effort that has gone into this from all the parties involved, and hopefully a solution will come to light.

when i get some time i will try to research cloning those samsungs in general and that might shed some light on our particular case. at least you still have x1 :)
