Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?
All Bell users should run the Sprint PPST; it is safe and improves GPS functionality quite a bit. I've run this on my phone and a few others and it works great.

Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?
Hi, I am on Bell and I haven't run the Sprint PPST.exe, can I just run the file 2/3 weeks after installing the sprint/OMJ V2 rom.
EDIT: I downloaded a PPST Sprint.cab file, would that be the one to run, and has anyone else tried to run this PPST file? |
Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?
Hmmm, I've been thinking of running the ppst file but holding off until someone with bell gave the ok. Sounds like its workable tho but I have a few questions before I do. Will this reset everything on my phone after I install? Also as far as the gps goes, right now gps will work for me only if I toggle the enable agps setting in either a regedit program or in the advanced config program (thats what the program is called) with resetting the phone. Will this enable me to use gps whenever I want without having to reset?
cheers |
Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?
Hey I tried running the ppst file from sprint but after a soft boot my pri remains the same. Any ideas? Other people have said that they just run and reset and pri gets upgraded
cheers edit: woops forgot to run the actual .exe that the cab installs, doing so now....... |
Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?
Ok I ran the ppst cab file and I can't find a exe file, there is no differance on my phone. I haven't used gps on my phone for a week now, it was working good and now I can't even get a sat, nothing, nadda, WTF happened and why is it Bell users are having so much problems.

Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?
I don't know of Bell users having sooo much trouble, I have had NO problems, since GPS/Rev A was posted in the Alltel release.
What problems are you referring to? Maybe I can help. After you run the cab (which only copies the necessary files to the appropriate locations), you must go to the \Windows directory and run PPST.exe, this will set the GPS settings on your phone. |

[/quote] Ok I ran ppst and soft booted the phone and now my PRI is 2.03_003, everything on the phone works good except the gps which will still not aquire satellites. If I try the next step (resetting on the ppst menu of the ##786# page) it says all data will be erased or something like that. If I reset the ppst will I have to reload alll my apps/settings? Do I have to reset now? If I read the posts right I want to have a PRI of 1.37_002, I was at 1.33_007 when I started. Does anyone know what I should do here. My last choice is reflashing the rom, currently on OMJ's leakedsprint v.2 rom. Any better choices of rom if I have to reflash? |
Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?
DON'T RUN ##786#! Sory for the caps but that will clear your phone number from your phone and you will no longer be able to call out or recieve calls and no data. Of course, there is a way to recover from that but I don't believe the ##786# will really help you.
I'm running OMJ Custom OEM 6.1 and it works very very well. So you ran the ppst cab file; then you ran the ppst.exe file in the \windows folder right? If you did that and you are still not getting decent GPS then perhaps it could be your ROM. Quote:

Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?
Ok so I ran the PPST.exe in the windows directory and now my PRI is 2.03_003, so I am set, like you said DOn't run the reset from the ##786# window, I didn't.
Am I where I should be for the flags being set for GPS, I can flash a bell friendly rom now and I should have really good GPS locks? I haven't noticed any internet speed differances no matter what rom I have loaded or whether I have Rev A enabled/disabled or even displayed as an option in the phone settings window. My phone status is: Radio version 3.37.15 Windows version 3.02.651.2 PRI version 2.03_003 Rom version OMJ's v.2 I am not to keen on flashing another rom and spending another week setting up my phone but it looks like I have to, GPS is not working at all, my Battery is used up fast and my programs have gone buggy. So if someone has any advice from there experiences that can help me with rom choices or steps to follow I would greatly appreciate it. EDIT: Has anyone on Bell tried NexVision's rom, looks really good but for battery drain? |
Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?
I'm using OMJ's Bell OEM ROM and that works like a charm. It is fairly lean (has office and some other tools) - if you want a more loaded one OMJ also has a full Bell rom.
