Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?

I'm using Ghetto's rom with 3.35 radio.
My Bell phone has absolutely no problem.
GPS works grrrreat, picks up at least 5 sats in under 5 sec.
Booting takes about 3 times longer than b4,
but I hardly reset my phone so it's out of my concern.
Try my combo if you like.

Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?

I am glad to hear someone has good GPS with the 3.37.10 radio, I am not crazy about flashing the 3.35 radio as it is from the Titan rom, so it looks like I just need a rom cooked from the new sprint release.

I am unable to post un this forum with my touch, I guess there is an issue with the java version I am running, OMJ's bell rom.

how do i get gps on my bell phone working.......keep in mind that i'm a noob

If you have unlocked your phone and have 3.37.10 or 3.37.15 or 3.35 radio then I believe you can load your cooked rom of choice. If you want to change radio then you might need to do some unlocking again before you flash the radio and if you run the Alltel or leaked Sprint rom DO NOT LET THE CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN, RESET THE PHONE AFTER SETTING UP THE SCREEN.

From what I have been reading the new cooked roms based on the leaked 3.02 Sprint rom have had good success with GPS with out doing more then loading the rom.

good luck

ludester, can you give me a few pointers on cooking roms, I downloaded BuildOS dated 4/30 at 28.9 MBs in size so far. Do I download the OS next, I seen a link with folders listed with Alltel\Sprint roms then OEM's. Do I downlad all I want, place the software in the right folders and then let buildOS do its work? am I on the right track here.

I got more reading to do, hehehehe, I have noticed issues with some builds about software in the wrong folders\wrong reg settings, java versions, htc home plugin versions and tcpmp versions.

From people that cooked the roms I have read it is easy and from others that critic prepared roms that they are buggy.

First you need to use coke's 2.31 unlocker on your phone, then use the Alltell ROM with the 3.37.10 radio and MAKE SURE TO SOFT RESET BEFORE CUSTOMIZATIONS RUN or you will have serious issues :P

From there you can cook up a rom using PPCKitchen or use a rom provided by one of the chefs such as OMJ.

There's a lot of tutorials around though so if you need specific help just browse around the boards... it's the best way to learn the stuff.

As far as getting GPS to works specifically, I still find it's best if I use GPSViewer to "prime" the GPS first, usually I'll get a lock within about a minute then I keep it running in the background and load up Garmin or Google Maps.

Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?

I have now loaded the 3.37.15 radio and OMJ's v.2 non sprint rom and GPS works great, I just start GPS today and then run google maps or Iguidance and the sats are there, I used it for 8 hours yesterday, phone was getting pretty hot and hardly charging with it plugged in. I find OMJ's roms really stable and find no reason to try another for now, The only ones I have tried tho are OMJ's and chrispipe's. which is no longer posted and outdated with the new radio I guess.

Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?

hey gazoo thats great, did you do anything else besides flash the rom, regedits etc.?
by the v2 non sprint rom do you mean the file named OMJ.wm6.1.GPS.Sprint.custom.v2.exe or v2.java?
cheers
