Same thing happened to me... http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=15820
they replaced it in store.. its UNDER the touch screen so they consider it a defect not physical damage... so i came in with that and left with a fresh one dont let them tell you otherwise |

I'm spending the night here. Thankfully Florida Hospital in Orlando has free WiFi! :-) Otherwise they'd be transferring me to the mental ward! |

It is caused by an interference in light that has opposing polarity. more detail : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moire_effect more info for polarization if you want to read more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polarization and here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interference_pattern Your case could be either LCD liquid leaking, or delamination of the polarizer for the LCD. I too have seen this on my buddy's Touch. About a week after it started the "Touch" screen quit working. Nothing on the screen would recognize his touching the screen. Took it into the sprint store and the exchanged it no problem.

Re: Screen Broke! What is this? (Pic)
had it happen. they'll first blame it on the screen protector. if so just tell 'em to take off the screen protector and then they'll see and swap it out.

My Touch has started doing this as well. I would have to like it is the outside display detaching from the display. I have never dropped mine nor had it in my pocket when I sit done since I purchased the phone back in December. I am curious to know if this is happing on the touches with the older displays (the ones that fade out when looking at an angle). I noticed the newer displays are much more crisp then mine.
