Need Help with my touch, please ......

well it's not really my touch just wanna be honest my cousin and I both have an htc touch for sprint but a couple of days ago his started acting up every time he takes a pic ,when he goes to view his pics he only gets a black square of death with a red X in the midle where the thumbnail is supposed to be anybody know what that is? or how to get rid of it? thanks to all in advance
