Rev A, GPS and Data plan?
 

Hi All,

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, but I searched and didn't find any answer.

I don't have any vision plan, or data plan with Sprint. If I upgrade to Alltel Rev A to get GPS, will GPS work with out data plan? Will upgrading to Rev A act like a GPS receiver only?

The GPS will function, but you will need some software to use it... preferably something that has MAPS included so that you won't need to access the internet.

As xcopmanx said, the GPS will work w/o a dataplan, but if you try GoogleMaps, or LiveSearch then it will access the internet and cost you a lot.

Now if you used a dedicated GPS program such as TomTom, iGuidance, etc. These programs have the maps are stored on the device, and it should not cost anything (as it won't be using the data to get the maps).
