Voice Command Confirmation Volume over BT?

Since I'm near Nirvana now (Everything works great).

I thought I'd ask if there is a true BT Confirmation Volume Fix.

I know all about AudioPara.csv I posted the first one for the Mogul some time ago.

On the Stock Touch it was already a little louder than stock Mogul and I tried quite a while on BT Volume on both Mogul and Touch with no luck. So I just run stock AudioPara.csv. Worried about blowing speakers.

I know there was one posted and I think there was claim to slight improvement on BT Volume (not sure if it was BT Volume [Radio] or BT Confirmation [PDA OS]. Well it needs way more than slight improvement for confirmation.

If it is in AudioPara.Csv does anyone know what the Parameters in (Line and Column in Excel) I don't want to change anything else because I'm happy with it and don't see it worth risking blowing a speaker.

Problem also is I've seen about 5 formats for this file as well. The fix might not be in the AudioPara.csv

So anyone know the full scoop?

Thanks

Re: Voice Command Confirmation Volume over BT?

Your SIG lists the 3.35 (Titan) radio and the Altell ROM. AFAIK, the Altell ROM did not include MS Voice Command. Which version of Voice Command are you working with?

Also, are you able to get confirmation to work, but the volume is low (almost inaudible)? If that is the case and confirmation works and announcement works, but the volume is simply too low to reliably hear what is being confirmed or announced, I am afraid that there really isn't much of a solution available. All of the AudioPara.csv fixes I have seen were for the actual volume and quality of the conversation. I have never seen where an update or change to AudioPara.csv has had a discernable impact on the volume or quality of the confirmation or announcement.

If you have experienced otherwise, please share, as I too would like to learn how to 'fix' this issue.

My hope is that the next release for the Touch/Vogue by HTC/Sprint (Rev.A + GPS) will include MS Voice Command. When this happens, the BlueTooth drivers and/or Voice Command will often receive some massaging in order to get things working properly.

Best regards,

I'm using last retail version with no patches Build 1.60.4622.0 and yes confirmation is working over BT to my surprise. With this round of ROM's. Just low volume. I still use it because I can hear it 2/3's of the time. I do have DLL's for Announce of Caller ID that I have not installed yet.

Thanks for the info.

The way that MS Voice Command has aged would tend to make me think that the version you have would now be referenced as 1.6.04622.0. There are other versions out there, primarily 1.6.17913 and 1.6.19209. I have also duplicated your experince with 1.6.17913. Voice Command responses, confirmation and announcement works, but it is barely audible.

There may, in fact, be other ways to improve the quality of the announcement and confirmation, I just haven't come across them.

There's a registry trick to increase the volume on VC that people swear by, but I've never had any luck with it.

This is also my last issue with my touch. I have looked everywhere and tried my hand at hacking the registry. Confirmation volume is tied somehow to the main volume of the phone. If the phone volume is up 100% I can hear the confirmation, but just barely. Moving volume down a notch will reduce the confirmation volume further. There must be some fix for this; we just need to find it.

This registry edit that you speak of; would you mind sharing?

I don't recall the specifics, but I do recall folks reporting some level of success with a registry edit on WM5. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this particular key exists on WM6 and when it is created, it does not have an impact on volume.

Most of the AudioPara.CSV files I have seen, concentrated on modifying the 10th column of the lines that begin with ann_PHONE_EARCUPLE_VOLn. I've never experienced these edits having an impact on the volume or quality of the Announcements or Volume ... but I'm going to try to do this to the AudioPara.csv file on my phone right now.

Re: Voice Command Confirmation Volume over BT?

I too have seen Registry Hacks and they have been around for years and don't help with this problem. Nor has any AudioPara.csv. If any of these hacks do help, it's very minor. I have not retried any hack with my squeaky clean ROM. And really don't want to hack around if it's the same old story.

I can certainly live with it, and do use it with the low volume, but it sure would be nice to find it.

One reason I ask is everyone swore confirmation would not be fixed until we saw the new version of VC and low and behold it's working now !!!

I was hoping I just missed it with the flurry of GPS threads and ROM threads.

Keep us posted !!

One thing I do, to see if you have ANY chance of controlling something is set it to ZERO. If the volume goes to ZERO then you know you are close to the right parameter. You can also set lots of ZERO's at one shot and "binary search" it. That is, if volume goes to zero after inserting 20 0's then try half of them, determine which half it was then do half again. Rather than doing one by one.
