I'm using the new drivers (from ZIP file in the above thread which I think were extracted from files in this thread). I'm running on a Sprint Phone and GPSDaemonService no longer starts on it's own (Like it did on early Enable GPS Titan.CAB). But what's funny is it's running great with out the Service Running !!!

I posted the drivers originally on the other thread, but hgray was nice enough to create an installer that would install all the drivers, and automatically start them on each soft reset.

An yes only gpsid_qct.dll is the only file needed to start the gps devices, but if the gps goes into standby mode there will be issues. The other files are need to correct this, and provide other services.

Can you explain a little more, or give a pointer.

I'm still confused:

1) Why did original drivers in GPS Titan Enable.Cab Start and not these.

2) I thought the "unlock/prep" scripts we run before installing GPS Drivers makes it so "unsigned drivers" would work. But this trick didn't work on Alltel and the need for kickstart.

3) Are you saying KickStart has migrated into "Restart" (from standby) for everyone (Alltel, Verizon, Sprint) on any "Hacked" GPS ROM?

4) Does Titan stock GPS ROM need this too?

Thanks for the help

1. ) Not sure I have no idea how the cab was created.

2.) The alltel users were the first to be the GPS testers, and there was no cab created the files were manually copied over. Do to the fact that these files did not have a signed security cert, the system would not load the drivers. So hgray being an Alltel users and the first to get GPS working had created a program to load the drivers.

3.) Kickstart is just a utlity to autmaticly load the GPS devices and GPS service. Being the Touch does not have GPS officially user borrowed drivers from other devices, that seemed to worked. Though after reading many of the threads many of the users are having problems. They are able to get a GPS lock during intial use but later on they are having problems, me myself included.

Which leads to the drivers I had posted. Before the new radio I had tried to get GPS going on the Vogue but was unsuccessful. Due to this process I had accumilated alot of different drivers. Some of which when launched the GPS locked the device, other did nothing, other activated the GPS but made it sluggish. Long story short I posted the best combination that I found out of the drivers.

An example of this is booting a XP machine into safemode the video driver works, but the diaplay doesn't look to good. The video card is no being used to it's full potential. After a reset and you boot the machine normally the display looks a lot better, you are using the correct driver.

4.) No the Titan has a Official GPS rom.

Re: GPS kick start for unsigned drivers

Now I'm starting to see the picture.

For the record GPS has worked with every set drivers so far (without kick start because I did the "1-2-3 security lift"). But I have had the GPS Lock after a few hours with no pattern (might work next day, might not). Soft reset always worked.

I have seen what might be side effects from the different drivers and I've been blaming different radios. Too many variables.

I've had phone drop call while stand still with good signal (probably radio in this case)
Had Data Connection not drop after many hours idle (always did with Sprint ROM) I think some drivers were keeping Data connection awake.
Had phone lock up at end of long BT call phone had gone to sleep during call. Would not wake up. (not sure if this is GPS driver related)
Had Data Connection hung overnight (I think this is possibly GPS Driver related).

I put 3.35 Radio on, Ran Sprint Customizations, Stock Alltel OS ROM, and your newest drivers and this is the best 18hr's yet. But I've said that before and had to eat my words.

Data Connection Shut down on it's own, first time, good sign things are "normal" !!!
GPSDaemonService not running, not needed and think it's related to better behavior so far.
You have to be careful about judging quick GPS lock, but first lock I got 7 sats almost instantly. I'm sure I won't continue getting instant locks, but that was first time I ever got 7 Sats.
No Kickstart needed (I rand 1-2-3 Security Lift).

Next test is the long BT call tests and long term stability of GPS across a single boot.

It does not matter it is not carrier specific.

Are there any registry edits that need to be done? Nothing happens when I install the cab and move the exe to windows/startup. Hmm
