Touch screen randomly turns on while driving on the freeway

Hello,

Does anyone have this problem where the display randomly turns on for no reason? This usually happens when I'm in the car and I'm thinking the phone switches from one tower to another. I don't usually keep any application constantly running.

I turn off the screen by pressing the button on the top of the phone. Usually after a min or so, it the display sometimes turns on again. After a few off buttons it remains off.

Has anyone experienced this? I'm using the stock ROM.

Thanks

Mine does the same at two parts of my commute. I've been on the phone at one of those points multiple times and it's dropped (on a bridge), so I figure it has to do with signal...

Would be interested in knowing for sure what it is though.

have you tried turning off the update time setting? It usually turns on activesync too so if thats running then thats probably your problem. That could tie in with connecting to different towers too (updating every time it sees a new tower and turning on)

just in case....Go to settings/personal/phone/services tab, then go to Time synchronization settings and uncheck.

my vogue turns on by itself when i drive by a wifi hotspot. very wierd considering that our device is not wifi capable.

are you sure the phone isn't switching between coverage and roaming? mines does the same thing but only does it if the phone switches between roaming and native coverage.

if i had to guess your phone is bouncing between roaming towers causing the device to wake-up.

That is a good point! I had mine on SPRINT ONLY, but noticed this same problem recently ... after i selected AUTOMATIC between sprint and roaming. It does turn back off after 30 seconds, so i am not too worried.

mine does it all the time too. But i dont know if its a "coverage" thing or if its my phone trying to connect to my audio or gps system even though i dont have bluetooth on. And it does it even on just a short drive. im kinda curious about it.

I've noticed it does this a lot at my friends house. The phone randomly turns on without ever moving. So strange.

I totally noticed this happening, posted in other threads for responses, and had no answer. I was under the impression it was happening when I got a txt or voicemail. The rom is stock. Lock the phone, Turn off the screen, put it in hard pouch, place in pocket. Two hours later, pull it out of pocket and backlight is on and phone is warm. I can't figure it out, but it sucks big *%#. Just right now changed the automatic time update setting to off. I will update. THX.

edit: I installed S2U2 yesterday. . . and it hasn't happened again. . . will update again.
