Re: Wifi Card...Anyone try it?

Spectec is announcing release of the MicroSD card again:

http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/21/s...-lose-in-july/

Writer states in the above article:
"Although late, it's still a boon for those of us running WiFi-less HTC Touch Duals, for example."

Maybe they'll really do it this time.

Re: Wifi Card...Anyone try it?

Uhmmm I don't see any official statements though... Engadget links to PhoneNews, and they don't quote a press release or mention any communication with Spectec.

Don't get me wrong, awesome if it comes out... but will hold my breath until I see it.

Re: Wifi Card...Anyone try it?

If it doesn't come with any memory onboard, then I'm not sure I see the point....

Re: Wifi Card...Anyone try it?

If the device doesn't have a WiFi antenna, how will this MicroSD adapter work and what kind of range could it possibly have?

GPS *should* be enabled with a ROM update in the future. I'd personally rather have the WiFi card. It would be better with on board storage as well, but I won't complain (microSD is tiny!). If you could find a good way to carry it around (any space under the battery cover?) it wouldn't be too big a deal to switch cards when you really need wifi. Would be great for data access when out of the country. Or for those moments when you really need WiFi ICS. The Touch's lack of WiFi is the only thing keeping me on my Mogul.

Same here, but I need storage + Wifi.
If only this thing had at least 2GB onboard...
And existed...
And cost less than $50...

Re: Wifi Card...Anyone try it?

I read on a forum somewhere that the wifi card is actually 8mm longer than a standard microsd card and if this is the case...it is unusable on the Touch, as you would have to use it with the back cover off and the side door open. It would be fine on my wife's HTC S720, the card slot is on the bottom of the phone with no door.

Re: Wifi Card...Anyone try it?

That's definetly possible. A lot of these type of cards (wifi, gps, etc) are like that.
