well apparently many rumours have been flying around which state that a wifi card can be used for triangulation and in essence use it for a gps device, though im not sure that works.

Not only that, some may find that a wifi card is a one time 40 dollar investment vs 10-20 bucks a month with a subscription service. if one spends the majority of their time at an office/university where wifi access is readily available, and signal reception is bad, a wifi card would prove to be great...

lol juss wanted to point it out, i personally am with bell and have the 7 dollar plan, =P i find that nothing can really replace a laptop interface and acessibility

Re: Wifi Card...Anyone try it?

Not everyone would use this as a EVDO Replacement like some people mentioned above. Another benefit is using the card and the WMWifiRouter (sp?) program. This will allow you to connect your phone via EVDO, then broadcast as a router/access point so you can connect via wifi from you're laptop.

Works great on the mogul

Re: Wifi Card...Anyone try it?

another potential usage is if you're traveling internationally you could use it along with Skype to make calls.

Re: Wifi Card...Anyone try it?

Sounds pretty cool. If the card included some storage as well, I'd probably get one. However, I couldn't give up my extra storage, and it's too much of a pain to swap them out all the time. Once one is released with even half-a-gig or a gig of storage space, I'll buy one asap.

That could be potentially difficult to make. The Touch has the microsd card slot and supports SDHC but has enough memory card corruption issues as it is. Designing a memory card that can double as a WIFI adapter isn't going to help and getting the touch to recognize both functions of the device at the same time is going to be equally as difficult.

WiFi is important for when one doesn't have a cell signal. Take my case for example. I rarely have a signal in my home, however I have WiFi in my house.

I have to say this is the only thing I find the Touch lacks.
