Mysterious Battery Drain

On three separate occasions over the past two weeks I have been in auditoriums with wireless microphones in use. In each of these instances my battery lost over 50% of its power in just a couple of hours. Is it possible that the A/V equipment is interfering with my phone and causing an extra batter drain? If so, any idea how to stop it? The phone has worked fine on the days that I did not attend a presentation.

HTC Touch running SPB Mobile Shell. Blue tooth turned off.

Thanks.

I do know that there have been issues with intermitent battery drain using Mobile Shell. One solution could be to turn off the gestures in mobile shell. I found this worked for me.

I highly doubt that a/v equipment would make any difference at all. Though been in an auditorium that has lots of concret walls etc that reduce reception. Could cause higher battery drain. I have an office that is underground where reception is terrible. I have to keep phone charging or it goes flat fast as it is trying to conect to the network non stop.

Hope that helps

Re: Mysterious Battery Drain

My HTC Touch battery use to only last for about 4 hours even if I didn't use it. Then I downloaded the nueled program by No2chem. It allowed me to disable that green blinking led. Now my battery last for days and it even fully charges in 1 1/2 hours now. maybe you should download nueled and disable your bluetooth led and green signal led. The signal led is a battery killer!

Re: Mysterious Battery Drain

I dont know if I have been having the same problems as the rest of you, but I think there might be some random Sprint network problems. In the past month, there have been two or 3 random days where when I'm in the office, I will all of a sudden see this bluish triangle icon on my touch and I will go from EV to 1X. This causes my battery to drain from 100% to about 30% in about 8 hours. (of doing nothing except checking the weather/email every 2 hours)

Then it will stop happening for a while. It just happened again today. Once I got home I didn't charge it and it's been almost 6 hours and my battery is still at 30%.

Re: Mysterious Battery Drain

If there no signal it will definately drain the battery as the phone searches for an acceptable beacon... that said I have no damn clue how to disable "phone" in such a situation, but I agree there should be one, so you can just use the PPC pda features. I saw in seeting a phone Icon...but I dont think that does it...u can check it out, i just turned mine off for the night. Also remember programs stay running even after you "X" them when youre using them...you have to use either the "STOP ALL" under running programs or the master program killer on the top right corner of the Today screen to really kill them...if their left on, they will certainly be eating battery, because they are running, especially IE and BLuetooth crap.

Re: Mysterious Battery Drain

If you know you're in an area with no signal you can either put the phone in flight mode (which will stop it from looking for a signal, but will allow you to use all of the PDA features), or force it to roam (if you can get a roaming signal).

Re: Mysterious Battery Drain

Is this a fact or suggestion because my battery life has seemed to drain quicker after putting S2U2 with a GIF. I was thinking that maybe this was draining. I am not sure.

Re: Mysterious Battery Drain

I had a nasty little drain while using s2u2 but then I removed it and now my battery says the same percentage when I wake up as it did when I fall asleep without putting the phone on the charger. Then again I'm also using the battery hack and have my signal led turned of.

Re: Mysterious Battery Drain

Same problem here..I thought it was ROM issues, but I noticed it was the whole SPB Mobile Shell or Phone Suite crap that was draining the battery... then i flashed more different ROMs and in some ROMs it takes a little longer to drain but still faster than normal.. I took that SPB Crap off and was playing with PointUI and it was lasting a lot longer (felt like normal) now .. Maybe I need to get that nueled stuff too
