Sprite vs SPB Backup
Is Sprite better than SPB Backup?
If so, what makes it better? Big sale on SPB Backup and they appear quite similiar. |
Re: Sprite vs SPB Backup
resco backup just came out. I like it better because spb backup and sprite backup freeze my touch.

Re: Sprite vs SPB Backup
Resco and SPB are relative newcomers to this. The Resco is having teething pains, I relied on it for a week and it really just didn't work. Would just start backing up (scheduled) and then not get anywhere, Resco isn't that clear as to what is going on and I didn't have time to waste to let them figure it out.
I used SPB Backup as well, oh, boy what a mess. I tried to restore, first few times it was great, flawless, then all of a sudden with their latest release, it really crapped out. Backups would fail, restores wouldn't work. No idea what's going on over there, very littel in terms of feedback except that they're "working on a really big project." Sprite is probably the oldes one of the 3 out there. They've been around for about 5 years and used to have Sprite 5, Sprite 6 was a mess. It really messed things up. I went back to using it again recently after having a very bad experience with SPB Backup. Sprite is up to version 6.2.1, it's stable, works well, haven't had any issues with it (so far) and the support forums are where you'll get most of your help, although finding them isn't that easy. Again, all of this is MY experience with the various software, not that you may have the same results. All of these offer the same functionality. Sprite has a desktop client that lets you backup via activesync which I think is unique to them. Download all three, install one at a time and run each for a week respectively. See which one suits you. |
Just used Sprite to restore a new phone
Restored everything perfectly except for my bluetooth profiles which had to be deleted and re-paired.
Have been using it for 4 months / nightly backups with no issues. |
Re: Sprite vs SPB Backup
if you have sprite on your phone and get a new phone or do a hard reset, what are diffrent ways you can get everything back on the phone?

Pop in my card from my old phone, Browse to the latest backup file, select it, and hit restore. You can also do a restore from activesync and I believe also from ftp, but the easiest/fastest way for me has always been from the card. |
Re: Sprite vs SPB Backup
Sprite is the most powerful, adaptable, and reliable of the three mentioned so far... makes my nightly rom flashing sessions infinately easier. i have yet to try resco and never will as far as backup apps go, but i can pretty much say with confidence that it cant hold a candle to sprite...

Re: Sprite vs SPB Backup
Sprite is really fast. My backup and restores are less than 5 min. I'll do the backups to the card and then copy them with activesync to a PC.

Re: Sprite vs SPB Backup
Just adding a thought about Sprite backup. When I upgraded to the new sprint rom I used sprite to back up my mogul and it stripped the RevA out of the rom when I backed it up. I think this was discussed under the new rom thread. Just thought I would throw that out there for you.
