Yes, but with certain providers it sends me back an SMS saying "bad SMS encoding", and the person never receives it. It's weird, I have no idea why. Maybe I do have the older build...anyone else getting this problem?

EDIT: DZO has confirmed that he doesn't have the certain coding for certain providers, and when someone does actually send him the Code, then he can get it to work. He gives instructions on how to do this, but they're too confusing and deal with the DEV Tools in Android. I honestly don't know how to do it either way, so I guess I have to wait, right?

I personally haven't had any problems send sms. I have a friend with an actual G1, what is it that DZO needs? Where are the directions, are they posted somewhere? Maybe i can enlist his help. He was pretty amazed when I showed him Android of my Vogue. He would more than likely be willing to help the cause.

Ok, the way i read that post was that someone on the bell network with a touch running android has to do it. Sorry, like i said my friend has the real G1, so i guess that wont work.

Well it doesn't have to be Bell, DZO told me to follow these instructions for Alltel, but I have no idea how to do this. You have to run this from Android on the Touch, in Dev Tools. I know how to get somewhat through it, but not completely. I guess it's just a waiting game now.

are you on one of the providers needed? i might be able to better explain it if you are, then that will be one less carrier needed. :)

I had a pretty weird experience with texting. It worked perfectly the first couple times I booted Android, then never again lol.
