HHC Custom Weather Problem

Hey everyone,

I might be the only one with this problem, but its happened with both touches, and the latest version of HHC. It always say "unable to retrieve data for the selected city" whenever I use a custom city. Anyone else have this problem?

Re: HHC Custom Weather Problem

Depending on the HTC home customizer you dl and using, the server was changed and you need to use a patch to fix it.
Im using emuntz HHC.08b customizer and HTC Home-Schen 2.1 with weatherfix for my Mogul
For my Touch, I just loaded HTC -Schen 2.1 with weatherfix.
Using the 2.1, to update/add cities, you update the HH_0409_WeatherCities File itself.

Is there a manual anywhere that explains in detail how to do this? I am interested in seeing my home town in HTC weather but as for now am stuck using weatherpanel to get local weather.

Thanks.

I don't know of any manuals but you can add/modify cities to the HH_0409_WeatherCities file a couple of ways.
1) the stock weather program has the file under WINDOWS. Changing that file requires a RESCO type program that lets you modify programs in Windows
2) if you dl the HTC Schen 2.1 with weatherfix, it will override the stock weather program. Then all you need to do is go to the HH_0409_WeatherCities file and modify it (my device> HTCHOME > HH_0409_WeatherCities). Use your PC when modifying. Just open it with notepad, copy and paste a "US city" line and modify that line with your city and State. Just follow the same format. oh yeah, make sure the first line of the file is "<locations>". If it isn't just delete the lines until it is "<locations>". I had a problem when I opened it and the first line wasn't "<locations>". It had other things written on it and it wouldn't work. After modifying, save your new file on your PC and then copy and paste it back to the same place on the device. You should copy the original file just in case you did something wrong or reload the program. It's alot easier than I wrote. PS. when you copy and paste the line, you should put your cities alphabetical order. Also, the file name needs be the same as the original file when you copy and paste it back. Tell me how it went. GL
htchome-2.1-n2a-uncompressedWeatherFix.zip

PS. I take no credit for this program and I like to thank Schen for it.

Thanks In Advance
