Let's hope that Microsofts CTIA release of 6.1 is part of the reason that Verizon was waiting to release this. The high cost that VZ is going to sell this phone gives a glimmer of hope it may have something upgraded over the other CDMA HTC Touches.

I am not optimistic because a ROM glitch delayed this release. My assumption is this will be a non-Rev A non-6.1 phone.

In other news... has anyone else also heard that VZ is departing from their normal practice of picking up phones slowly and is negotiating for a CDMA Touch Dual Version? Rumor has it they would be the first CDMA carrier (seems impossible to me given VZ is last to the dance always) to carry it.

Doubt it. Verizon like u said is always the last person to get the PDA phone

I emailed Verizon about release date for the 6900 this is the response FYI

Thanks for the inquiry. We are still waiting on a quantity commitment from the
manufacturer so we can determine the day the device will be available for purchase.

Please watch our web site: www.verizonwireless.com for additional information.

That sounds like really good news blkson, but don't be insulted if people here don't take your word. We get quite alot of people saying their mom's an exec at HTC and that an update will be available so and so date. We just choose not to get our hopes up too high.

Hope you're right,

Why would you want one? They don't have Wifi or a keyboard. It sounds like a downgrade to me when you can do all the same stuff and more on the 6800???

For the same reasons the Sprint Touch is so popular. I don't need WiFi, I don't see myself using it for anything. I'm in an EVDO area, and I can send files from my laptop via BT anyway.

TouchPal has been a great onscreen keyboard for me. I can type as fast with that as I could on my 700wx.

So there's not really any more that you can do on the 6800. Plus the Touch is thinner than the 6800, which is a huge plus for me.

Except for the WiFi and physical keyboard, the Touch can do everything the 6800 can do (with GPS and Rev A once we get the update), plus it has a lot more memory.
