Screen with colored lines through it

Hello ya'll, I just acquired an Alltel Touch from Ebay. The phone boots up, but all I can see on the screen are multi-colored lines running vertically down the screen, I can't get any picture out of it other than that. Everything else seems to be okay, but I'm looking to see if anyone knows/thinks that it just may be the LCD or an actual hardware problem.

Because, if it's just the screen I'll replace it, but if it's hardware then I'd rather not mess with it. Let me know what you think, I will appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks.

$59 labor and about $80 - $150 for screen @ RadioShack Service Center...

do the lines go from red to blue going through the rainbow? if so it sounds like its in bootloader mode.

The colors change, as some colors fade into other colors. It is never constant. I've tried a hard-reset and nothing. It still boots up with the lines.

RStoyguy, have you had the same issue? And that is who you went through was Radio Shack Service Center? Can I just buy the screen from them and put it in myself?

Not myself, but I work for radioshack and I see that sorta stuff all the time. We can repair it, I just can't get just the part. Usually phones are sent into our repair center and depends on the manufacturer they are repaired, or swapped at flate rate. you might have your local radioshack e-mail the service center to see if they could sell you just a screen.

Just send it to the manufacturer. I don't see why this thread needs a high rating if it's nothing major.

If anyone has actually had a problem like this before, I am interested in hearing from you. I will not work on or send this phone in to anybody if it's more than a broken LCD. That is what I'm trying to figure out, if it actually is the LCD.

For $20 Radioshack will send it in and tell you what is wrong and how much to fix it. This is non-refundable, but it will go towards the repair. Just depends on what originally caused the defect. Natural causes, moisture, or physical damage.

Got a camera to upload a good picture of your screen?
