I think what happened was u were one of the very few people who got a hold of a version of Live search that did that. I remember it going up for a few hours that day before it was taken down, and a whole bunch of people were looking for it. Errr, maybe that was the Voice-Enabled version? I can't remember. But, I think the Google Maps does that location thing only for GSM handsets. Are you with sprint or att?

Do you happen to know what rom/radio version you had? The only sprint one i've seen is:
Rom: 1.12.651.1 radio: 2.13.00

I am using this right now and it doesn't have live search. It comes with windows live and there is a today menu item, but that just takes you to the web.

Oh snap it worked, its about 30 feet off from where I am, but it worked, I set GPS to COM 1 in GPS settings in phone, and same to GPS setting in Live.
I haven't tried driving with it yet, overnight shift, Ill test that tomorrow and see if it is really working. And no this location is not programed anywhere in my phone.

maybe its getting the location of the nearest cell tower? could that be 30 feet from you? what version of live search is it?

I tried doing the "center on GPS" on the live map and it keeps taking me to the last search I did a couple of weeks ago (i'm over 40 miles away right now). And when I move the map to my current location and click on the center on GPS, it takes me back to the last search location.

I think what happened to OP is that he mapped his location once and then it kept taking him back to that location.

simple mistake.

but another simple question to OP: if GPS was working, did you try anything that showed it worked besides showing you the "one" location?? did it work at multiple locations? did you try to use it for directions?

Lol ok I just ran a 2 blocks down the street and the GPS showed me in another state lol - came back to work and it showed me 20miles away, sooo I guess it was just a fluke, sorry for getting anyones hopes up. It doesn't work. Should've known it was too good to be true :)

im with sprint, my touch came preloaded with live search. now u guys gonna make me do a hardreset? :twisted:

it wont do turn-by-turn gps but it does tell your current position. i dont smoke crack, i know what im talkin about willis.
what i didn't know was upgrading to the newer live search would remove this feature.
