Awful battery life? Help please!

My battery life is GODAWFUL. I charged it last night and unplugged it at around 5am.

I made maybe 45 minutes of phone calls today, sent and received 22 text messages, about an hour and a half worth of Opera/IExplorer usage and I'm down to 20% battery life.

Only had my touch for about 2 and a half weeks. I'm using Torx's Iphone theme with WAD WA3.

Bluetooth is off

beam is off

Don't use push email either, No email servers setup on any kind of autocheck schedule

I'm in an EVDO area nearly all the time.

OZ IM is almost never on, nor does it startup with the device

I never use on demand and it is set to NOT auto update

s2u2 locks after a minute of inactivity and then the screen turns off after 15seconds. I push the power button to get the unlock screen back up. Blank screen when talking. Change JPEG wallpaper randomly every 15minutes.

I get auto weather updates for weather panel. It was set for every 30 minutes, I'm going to change it for every 2 hours.

No email servers setup on any kind of autocheck schedule

The mort script is LED Killer v 3.1

I'm using the battery registry tweaks.

Also using an edited Audiopara file that increases volume.

I was using the new battery meter that reads in 1% increments as soon as I took the phone off the charger last night it went down to 96% and within 10 minutes it was down to 90%, while the screen was blank. I've since uninstalled hoping this program was causing the problem

In the last 10 minutes the battery dropped from 20% to 5% without doing anything

After restarting I went from 5% battery life to 30% ???

Re: Awful battery life? Help please!

Same here. If I don'tuse my device at all the battery lasts all day. If I'm on the phone for any more than an hour.... it's dead. It won't last. I wish that there was a way to improve the battery life. I thought the Mogul was bad but this is ridiculous.

Re: Awful battery life? Help please!

One thing you might want to try, I find that this helps me out. When most people plug their phone in at the end of the night to charge it, I really only takes a few hours to charge. Then the phone runs on battery power even though it's plugged in. That is when the amber light shuts off and the green light turns on. So generally say that you were to plug your phone in to charge it, at 9:00 its charges by 12:00. If you take it off the charger at 8:00, then phone ran on standby for eight hours off the battery. The only way you can top your battery off before you unplug it in the morning is to plug in a auto timer in the wall. That will turn the power off to the charger, say 2 hours before you get up for just a moment and turn back on to start the charging again.

Make sure the network is set to your carrier only. It may be burning battery searching for another signal.

Re: Awful battery life? Help please!

It's possible you have a defective battery.

I get longer life using the same apps (and more memory) as you. I notice you have killed a lot of the "stock" HTC processes...try running it without killing them. I know very little about all this, but perhaps by killing one of those processes power management or something else got screwed up.

Re: Awful battery life? Help please!

I took off the 1% battery meter, changed the weather app to update every 2 hours, took off the battery registry improvement, and left biotouch.exe, APLauncher.exe, quickdial.exe, and mediaminihub.exe running.

So far today I did about 3 hours of opera/internet explorer browsing straight. Used gmail to check my mail accounts, talked for roughly 45 minutes, sent/received 29 text messages using contactcm as well as the stock sms app, and used pocket alarm to vibrate and play an mp3. It has been off of the charger (full charge) since 1am and I am now at 50%.

I suppose this is better than yesterday and would probably be better if I left it on the charger until I left this morning.

Re: Awful battery life? Help please!

my battery is great..make sure u have incoming beams set to off, and make sure your net connection isnt active if you arent using it. Looks like your running wisbar, which is also a larger tax on the battery b/c of processing. Try this also, seems to work wonders for us mogul users:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AsyncMac1\Parms]
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Irsir1\Parms]
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\PPTP1\Parms]
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\L2TP1\Parms]
Default value type and value are
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:1
Change to
“DisablePowerManagement”=dword:0
After editing and changing the registry value, exit the registry editor. Wait for about 20 seconds and then switch off the PPC, and then switch on again. This step is important so that any registry modification will make permanent into the registry. Wait for a while again, and then soft reset (reboot) the PDA. Check if the registry settings have been changed correctly, and start using your Windows Mobile portable device to feel the significant power save which enhance the battery life longer.

Re: Awful battery life? Help please!

Thanks for the tip. I actually used to use that modification but have since taken it off because it seemed to have an adverse affect on my Touch.

Anohter update for today:

Barely used the phone the last 4 hours. Missed one call and checked voicemail message for 3 minutes - down to 40% from 50%.

I think I might put the battery tweaks back on to test if the problem was closing out those running programs.

Re: Awful battery life? Help please!

After reading this thread, and complainging about my own batter problems, I took the above mentioned tweak, and turned it into a cab in case it makes it worse.

I haven't tested it, and I did not come up with it, just converted it.

Enjoy?

Re: Awful battery life? Help please!

Hi all.

Actually I used this devise to increase the life of my battery:

http://www.adsbattery.com/Product/EN...p?productid=16

I made full reactivation of the new battery + slow charge + slow discharge + slow charge again. It increased 25-30% of my battery life.

That's all folks.
