For one thing, I'm interested in the ram pn to find more information regarding the possibility of a mogul upgrade.

And for another thing, the agps bs you talk about is the same thing that's in the mogul. The Qualcomm msm7500 gpsone chip (read enhanced agps), capable of acting in standalone mode, is the chip that is on both phones!

But the above link is the phone I am getting from Alltel. Can someone explain the wifi/ no wifi debate. While I await a reply I will look around.

The post to end all posts...(?)

Here's the deal folks...

The Wifi chip module on the HTC 6800 is this:

That is: Texas Instruments WL1251

(Edit: Bearxor actually identified it 1st!)

Here are the Mogul pics plus the corresponding plexed BT/Wifi antenna--note it is not very big.

So the question is: does your device (Touch) have this on board? From the pics earlier on in this thread, it appears to be "no" but I cannot be definite.

Any help?

ps Thanks to Murph24 for the Mogul shots

Also: An alternate Wifi chip may be one with these numbers from Atheros:

interesting that there looks to be a slot for a sd or minisd on the touch right below the microsd slot. could one solder a wifi mini/normal sd chip in and close the case?

Heh, nice point out zeurx. That is defiantly a SD/MiniSD port. Now we just need some one brave enough to solder a slot/SD card on it and try.......

That area you're looking at is where a sim card would go if these boards were made for GSM networks instead.

Question though, while we have the pictures up on this forum. Is it possible to solder another MicroSD port in the open bit and have it work.....For example 2 microSD cards?.............I know USB would not have a problem doing such a thing. Any thoughts?

You would have to have an open connection to be able to solder another SD slot. The phone would probably go crazy if you soldered a slot onto the SIM card area.

just an idea, how about comparing the boards from a gsm elf and the cdma touch and point out the wifi chip and antenna off the gsm elf
