ActiveSync constantly connecting?

I got a Sprint Touch about a week ago, and shortly after getting it I set up ActiveSync with my laptop via bluetooth. For the past several days, however, i will very often check the quick menu only to find that ActiveSync is running. I will find it running several times throughout the day (I close it each time, completely shut down through task manager), and this is while I'm at work where there are no BT devices around and its just sitting on my desk, unplugged. It seems like its automatically starting up Activesync to check for a new connection or something at regular intervals, but I can't find any options that would cause this to happen.

Anybody have any insight into what might be causing this?

ActiveSync also wirelessly syncs your handheld with your Exchange Server (for emails, contacts, tasks, and calendar). This is why it is always connecting.

I had read that in the manual, but I don't yet have exchange support set up or enabled on the device (no push mail, IMAP, no nothing). I don't have any email set up, yet. So unless it checks no matter what, that possibility is out.

Any other possibilities?

no problem anthromatt, I really appreciate your effort!

reeg420 - thanks, I will search to track this down. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Also, I am to assume that this is "normal" operation for a stock Touch?

Yes, completely normal. Even if you kill it it will come right back. Activesync is like a raging drug addict, it is on a one track mind all the time. Connect-connect-connect!

I *THINK* I remember reading that if you enter bogus server information and it cannot connect than that will force it to give up. However, I am attached to my corporate exchange server so I never tried.

That thread is a way more complicated way of doing it...With this way u dont have to download anything... Just go to start menu, click on "phone", then go to "menu" and click "options".Click on the "services" tab.Scroll and click on "time syncthronization" and hit get settings. Uncheck time sychronize and click ok and your problem is solved.
