Phone as a Modem

I love my touch phone except one thing when I had my big giant 6600 I had no problem using my phone as a modem using wmodem on the touch wmodem comes with a com port 8 error and I even tried usb modem which other people claim to use it with no problem but it don't work for me I get invalid password when I try internet sharing I would like to go back to the basic wmodem and open com port 8 or if you all know how to get usb modem to work please let me know my trail period is running out and so far I get no success so I won't pay for it unless I get it to work....a little help guys
