Vista Dialer new Version 1.2
 

This was designed for the Sprint Touch.

Here's my latest creation, The Vista Dialer.

As many of you know I like Vista icons and it's look, so little by little I've been redoing the graphics of my Sprint Touch to look more like Vista.

My latest conversion is the Phone Dialer/keypad. The buttons look like they came off the task bar of Vista and the icons are from Vista. The background has a nice gradiant look to it to match the over all look. The buttons have a nice 3D effect with an outer glow of blue.

All that I changed was the graphics, no modifications to the registry or programs.

As always I made you a Cab file that can be uninstalled if you don't like it. I also tested this in bright sun light and you can still see the buttons.

Opps, I forgot about the incall screen for landscape. I uploaded VistaDialer1.1. Just install this and if you already using my Vista Dialer, it will uninstall the old one and install the new one.

Is There Any Way That We Can Change The Background Of The Dialer

No, they way HTC layered the graphics would cause bad effects.

Polen - this looks awesome! I have a problem and I was wondering if you could help me.

I loaded the iphone dialer which used the old eten dialer app. I then loaded another iphone dialer skin over the earlier one.

when I went to remove the skin, my original htc skin disappeared. do you know how i can get that skin back and working properly along with your skin?

Nevermind - figured it out - had to re install dialer from xda then I switched to your skin - works great excep that the end key button always appears pressed unlike the other buttons.

Humm, you got yourself in a bad situation. Have you tried removeing iphone dialer. I see you removed the skin, but what about the dialer. My cab file uses the same file names as the default HTC dialer, but since they are in the rom, they just get redirected to my files and the original ones are still there, so if you install my cab and then remove it, all the default images of the dialer will be there.

If you have another app that replaced the HTC dialer, then that could be another problem.

Okay, I think this is my last change to this Dialer Skin. I uploaded VistaDialer1.2, check out First post.

I modified the gradient background to better center, up and down wise, around the caller information. It was bugging me everytime I looked at it so I fixed it. You don't have to upgrade yours, but if you think the gradient part of the background could use a bit of a shift upward, then this upgrade is for you.

Just copy the new cab to your device and run it, it will automatically ask to uninstall the previous and then install this new version.

I was thinking about it. Some parts of the phones graphics are in DLLs which is more difficult to modify, but the Dialer and the cube are just plain graphic files, and I also noticed the the HTC keyboards are also just graphic files, so I might take a shot at it too.

I've never posted on these forums yet, but I had to give you credit on the dialer skin- much better than the default. Nice job!

Very nice, but it goes backwards for us fat fingered folk. It would be awesome if there was a version with full sized buttons.

The buttons are the same size as the defaults that come with the Sprint Touch. The buttons look a bit smaller, but the activation area is the same.

polen any way to have an end button always on the screen when on the phone ? its awkward to click call status then end ...

All I did was changed the graphics of the Touch Dialer. The way the dialer works is programmed by HTC.

When I make a call it switches to the Progress screen(Call Status), which has the end button. I did notice that when I hold down the 1 key to goto voicemail that it stays at the Keypad screen, which make sence cause you need the keypad to navigate voicemail.

You could alway just press the Red physical button and not even use the screen, this is also good for when the screen blanks while in a long call, you don't have to wake it up and then press End just press that little red button.

I understand that you only replaced graphics, but when I use this dialer, my caller ID no longer works. When I uninstalled the dialer, the caller ID worked again. (When it wasn't working, when the dialer skin was installed, it would just say "Incoming Call" with no number.)

Did a network malfunction just coincide with my testing of this skin, or is it possible that the dialer skin does something that intereferes w/ the Caller ID?

My caller ID work great for me and no one else has complained. The caller ID isn't even part of the dialer, it's a whole seperate dialog box.

Thanks for your concern, but I think it was your cell towers or it was someone hiding their Caller ID info with a *72.

you know something, i've had that happen to me a few times as well, i thought it was just my phone, i never thought to relate it to the vista dialer, does anyone else have this problem as well?

I'm sorry I meant *67 not *72 to hide Caller ID.

polen, two ideas/requests:any way to have the screen autoshut off when a call made?.also, the iphone has a neat popup when a call is made, Can that be copied?thanks

Is it possible to get this dialer to work on an apache for verizon?

I wouldn't think it would. This is just a skin for the dialer that comes with the Sprint Touch.

Polen great apps THANKS SO MUCH FOR THESE !!!! is there another VistaDialer ZIP file cause eveytime I download the ZIP file and try to access the CAB inside it comes up with an invalid message about the ZIP file being invalid all your other custom Vista apps work perfectly...

So there is not way to make the background say black or Dark Blue instead of gray?

Perhaps you can upload the graphics files themselves instead of a cab and we can do what we want and drop them into \Windows ourselves (after backing up original files).

I use this on my sprint Touch and I love it.

if this and the keypad could be made to fit the windows default and wm green themes it would be even more fantastic

You are a genius!! I have been looking for these types of thing for quite some time and these are by far the best. I did have one issue. I downloaded the Dialer and my TALK / END key does not appear as a button like the rest. Also I am new to this web site so I need more time to get familiar with it. I will definetly be compensating you for these downloads. Also still learning this new PDA phone approach.
