i'm using 2 headsets: Motorola H681 and the Plantronics 510. the H681 is one of the newest Moto offerings and, to my surprise, has good call clarity and loudness when used with the Sprint Touch. the Plantronics is my old standby; it's worked with every HTC branded phone i've purchased in the last 2 years. i also tried the Motopure (Motorola) H12, with noise canceling technology, but i had a lot of complaints from callers on the other end. they said my voice would cut in-and-out depending upon the background noise.

I've been having the worst luck with BT headsets with Caller ID displays with the Touch.
Jabra BT8010, crackling static, just plain useless. V Three BTH8, disconnects constantly. You would think I would be talking about the 6800 Mogul here with all my Bluetooth problems, but nope, it's the Touch. I've had fewer problems with Bluetooth and the Mogul with the 2.17 ROM. If I can't get a useable BT headset with Caller ID display to work with the Touch, I'm going to go back to the Mogul. -Ed |

When it comes to BT headsets I learned its more then side and quality... those are important... but the most important is FIT.
I've tried the Jawbone but the damn thing won't stay in IN MY EAR correctly, so therefore that one button that post to press on your cheek or "jawbone" doesn't work for me. I've had this Sony BT headset with the caller ID [I can't remember the model right now]... it got reviews for very very good sound quality, even with my experiences. But the thing was pretty heavy for a headset. And it didn't have a piece that actually went in the ear. So this headset also fit in loosely like the jawbone. Currently I use Jabra JX10 with the Touch and its awesome. The weight is light, sometimes I forget its even in my ear. The quality is pretty good. I just ordered Plantronics Voyager 855, I'll see how this goes...

You can get the Jawbone at ecost for $77.00
I'm tempted. My old standby Sony HBH-300 battery is almost gone.

just got this in today... Plantronics Voyager 855 It works as a regular bluetooth headset and a A2DP with/without the attachable stereo earpiece. This is my first A2DP mobile experience. Works real well with the Touch. You can switch tracks, control the volume, pause/play all on the headset (with WMP or AM only, TCPMP and other audio programs don't let you controll the play thru the headset.) The call quality of this headset is decent.. not as good as my Jabra jx10. The headset comes with ear gells that are made for sound isolation. You can make calls as a stand alone headset or with the stereo attachment... I prefer the stand alone. The stereo calling sounds too trippy for me. It also has a slide boom to answer calls. You can answer calls without sliding the boom. The music quality is very good... better then regular headphones on my ipod it seems. The bass response is very impressive from me. And this is coming from a freelance audio engineer. The only real complaint I have is the fitting. The headset has this part that sticks, litterally, in your ear and kinda leaves the headset hanging off.... so it sticks out and not up against your cheek. It leaves you with that "loose" feeling like its going to fall off if you move your head around. Even though I shaked and moved my head around to see if it would, the feeling is still annoying. The ear hooks really don't help for me... Simply the headset is staying in just from the part thats going in your ear. But all and all, its a pretty damn good headset... especially for A2DP. Based on my mood, I'll be switching between this and my jx10 |
