Re: SD card corrupt?

Well I lost all my data, could not seem to restore it so I just reformatted it. Now I back up my card regularly on my computer. Sucks, but oh well.

Re: SD card corrupt?

OK I have read through this entire thread and here is my story. Much like a lot of you, I have had more or less the same problem. I have an HTC S640 with the most recent ROM. I have had no problems using a 4 GB Micro card, but with 2 8 GB cards, I toasted both of them. The first one is completed destroyed and no recovery tools will recover it. The second 8 GB micro, I formatted using a special SD card formatter that formatted it with the "correct" format. Something to do with fat 32 and fileblocks...(don't ask). It seemed to work, then just when I thought it would be OK, it's down and out like the first one. I have read other forums and I wonder if it's not so much the hardward but more a few programs that behave badly in a SDHC environment. Some have reported not to have email attachments saved on the storage card, and google maps causing problems. So, would it be possible that some of the programs, native ones as well need to be updated to be compatible with larger SD cards. I thought I would try a name brand card, but after eating almost $100 I am a bit gun shy. How about Sandisk and the hardware people come straight with us and please make some sense of all this. So until then, as much as I am dying to try the 16 GB micro card, I will wait to hear that these crazy problems are corrected. If anyone has a solution to this, please contact me on markjdavenport.com

Thanks
Mark

Re: SD card corrupt?

Ok so it happened to me again. This time i figure it could either be my camera saving pics to the SD card or Google maps. Both programs were used right before the card became corrupt again. Anyone come up with a fix or solution yet?

Thanks

Re: SD card corrupt?

the guy from verizon asked me to do a hard reset and not install any software, since he was sure that it was the software I had installed that caused the porblem. I said, I thought that one of the great things about this phone is that we coudl install 3rd party software on it? Would someone ask me to remove software from my pc because I had a problem with it? Ashole!

That can't be true. This corruption problem is common among all Vogues regardless of SD vs SDHC card format and size. I have a 512Mb Transcend MicroSD card that came with the phone.

What is interesting to me is that I have had this problem for a few months now and haven't had any issue just formating the card with StorageTools until recently.

I can no longer access the card. It is dead to my Vogue. Anything I try to use to access it says that no card exists. Yet, when I take it out and plug it back in, the phone awakes from sleep as if it knows something was inserted. It just cdoesn't recognize the volume.

I contacted HTC to see what they say and if it's covered under warranty.

Re: SD card corrupt?

I had a similar issue about a month after I got my Touch. I came looking here and didn't find any solutions but saw many people complaining of the same problem. I had roughly 2GB woth of files on a 8GB microSD and one day it just stopped being able to read the 2GB worth of files. It still showed that I only had 6GB available but nothing I did would get me access to the files. The card just looked blank. I finally just popped it out, reformatted FAT32 on my PC and haven't had an issue since but I now backup the card on a regualr basis. I do wonder if I had formatted it before using it instead of just popping it in stock if that would have stopped the first failure but I'll never know.

Just thought I'd post a follow up to this thread...

I've have the Verizon XV6900 since early Aug '08 and kept experiencing the random SD card corruption. The fixes and suggestions here never really fixed the problem for me, only extended the time between failure.

Verizon has a update available for the Verizon XV6900 that brings the phone up to Mobile 6.1. According to the tech at the Verizon store the SD-card fix is part of the update package. I've been running it since early January 3rd and I haven't had a single SD card problem since. (fingers crossed)

Yup, It should be a thing of the past. I and others with Sprint Vogues had the issue with the stock WM6 ROM. The 6.1 update fixed the issue. There is a registry tweak that will help too. It deals with the camera album, which if left open will cause the error.

Re: SD card corrupt?

I recently had similar problems copying files from one location on the device to the storage card. It wouln't do it. (cut and paste). Also, my Windows Media would not sync even though it was working fine prior to the problem. Soft reset did not work, but THIS DID>
Remove the storage card and reinsert. Soft reset. If you are having trouble with a folder, rename it, or move the files to a new folder.
This worked great for me and the phone is operating normally again.
