Question Help... bluetooth COM port on HTC Touch WM6.1

Hello,

I have HTC Touch with WM6.1. I am trying to connect my HTC with Laptop via bluetooth dongle. I could establish pairing, however, I could not add an outgoing com port on my HTC. There is no option of "New Outgoing Port" in COM Ports tab on my HTC bluetooth, so I can't add a com port. I also cannot establish outgoing port on my Laptop - error: "The device does not have a serial port service running". I can't connect my HTC to PC via Active Sync or Phone as Modem using bluetooth.

Please help. How can I connect my HTC to Laptop using bluetooth dongle?

Thanks.

Re: Help... bluetooth COM port on HTC Touch WM6.1

The following worked for me to send my contacts from my LG Rumor to my Touch via Bluetooth. It also paired, but I was unable to send anything. Try the following:
On the today screen, click on the battery. Then in the bottom right, hit Menu, Beam, and check "Receive all incoming beams".

(Before you do this, make sure your Bluetooth settings are set to on and visible via Start, Settings, Bluetooth, Mode. Check both boxes.)

Hope this helps.

Re: Help... bluetooth COM port on HTC Touch WM6.1

I set mine up with very little problem.
Settings, Connections, Bluetooth, Com Ports, New Outgoing Port.
I added Com Port 3 and it worked.

Re: Help... bluetooth COM port on HTC Touch WM6.1

I noticed this post is a couple of years old but I am having the same problem and didn't see a solution. Did you find one?

I am attempting to connect a laptop with windows 7 to an HTC Fuze with WM 6.1.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

This may help:

I found it in an older post. It discusses pairing with Vista but maybe you need to do something similar with W7. I hope it helps!

Re: Help... bluetooth COM port on HTC Touch WM6.1

Thanks for the link. I checked it out.....and it had some useful information but unfortunately they are describing a different variation of the bluetooth issue. They have a com port but can't use the activesync software while I can use the activesync software but can't create a com port.

It did give me a couple of ideas to try but nothing worked. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Help... bluetooth COM port on HTC Touch WM6.1

I wanted to provide a follow-up. I eventually found a solution to creating a com port on my fuze for the purpose of allowing my laptop to connect to the fuze gps via bluetooth.

My solution isn't the cleanest thing in the world and I'm sure there is a better way...but if you are looking for ideas for a solution you may want to check it out.

I posted the solution on a separate forum found here:

Good luck.
