Re: [Updated 7/9/09] SYS 23004 WM6.5 for PPC Kitchen

Thanks for your quick response.

I am sorry I don't know what Porting the XIP means. I can place the various parts properly in the kitchen, but I don't know how to create the parts.

I am running 21501 on my Apache now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

23004 and XIP 3.14 for Vogue

Well I took my newly re-built Vogue out for a test spin last night and the results are quite positive.

I took my wife and in-laws to a play so got a chance to use most facets of the Vogue, including GPS navigation. After 5 hours of being out and about the Vogue still had 92% of battery life. This is in comparison to 80% under 3.09 XIP. So definitely something has changed to allow for better battery life. Available memory is much better under 23004 than 23001 (66 meg vs 40 meg), so I suspect the memory leak is either slowed or fixed.

All in all a snappier Vogue. I do have my pagepool set at 24.

Re: [Updated 7/9/09] SYS 23004 WM6.5 for PPC Kitchen

Anybody have Opera 9.5 working on this 23004 SYS? Mine installs but is very very slow and real unresponsive?? I have tried multiple different builds of 9.5 and tried 9.7 as well with no luck :(

Second thing... When i updated the kitchen with the Drivers_Vogue.rar in this sys, after the build i noticed that the scrolling in file explorer and file commander went back to being similar to the 6.1 days. Scrolling was still smooth like 6.5 in Titanium and start menu but not in other areas. So i went and re-downloaded Driver_Vogue.rar from the manual downloads at ppckitchen, updated my kitchen again, re-built and scrolling was all good for all programs :) ... Whosdaman, that sound normal to you?

Re: [Updated 7/9/09] SYS 23004 WM6.5 for PPC Kitchen

quick question: i finally cooked my own Rom last night and it was great, but the icons in start menu were a little bigger and some stock icons don't have that many pixels so, how or what setting do you use in your kitchen to get this icons back to the normal size?

thanks

That maybe, the Drivers come straight from the Verizon Official ROM so everyone would have the most up to date programs

You you know what the dll that controls it, i will gladly switch it out

Re: [Updated 7/9/09] SYS 23004 WM6.5 for PPC Kitchen

Well,

Not exactly sure, i just left town for a few days but when i get home i could replace the Drivers_Vogue.rar again in my kitchen and then write down all the overwrite prompts... when i switched back to the ppckitchen version of Drivers_Vogue.rar it didn't do all the overwriting.

If i remember correctly it was a bunch of ... eT9 & touchinput.dll ... something like that and it was probably in the range of 20 or so files.

Any luck on getting a fast, stable version of Opera 9.5 on this SYS? If so, what build are you using?

Thanks

Will this work with Opera 9.7?

Does anyone know where the theme gets selected? I have tried to override it, but each time I get Classic Blue.

Hey vin,

Did you just replace the "browsing", "browsingcore", and "brosingie" folders in this rar from an older SYS and recomod? If so, which SYS do these come from and does that also mean that internet explorer will therefore be an older build from that older SYS?

Thanks vin! Wish i weren't on the road so i could build and re-flash :)

I've not used recomd.exe before so I'm not sure exactlly what to make of/how to interpret that settings.txt you attached? Getting ready to go google and read up on recmod though :)

Did you alter/tweak anything with that Opera 9.7 OEM? I had the stock 9.7b1 beta d/l running on a 21501 build i had, but it still didn't work on a couple of finiky websites i use because of work. At the same time, i was running an old 1957 build of Opera 9.5 and it worked on these particular websites. Just trying to figure out if I'm gonna grab that 9.7 OEM you posted and put it in the build or just install it post flash so i can remove it if it doesn't work on those websites. Thanks again! (off to read up on recmod)

In this case recmod=transform **module into **file prior the build process. Its like a cheating on wmreloc
And attached txt=sys version.txt- is just to show that the browsing files from the 23004 (not older build).
For opera 9.7 OEM all I did is installed the original cab and then compared initflash.txt generated with oemizer and found few missing lines in it and wrote them manually.

EDIT:I forgot to change back these line in attached opera9.7 OEM initflash.txt from post#53

Re: [Updated 7/9/09] SYS 23004 WM6.5 for PPC Kitchen

Ok thanks again!

I guess I'll have to leave the more advanced stuff up to ya'll. I can build and edit/modify roms (at least ones not built with the ppck) with Dogguy's kitchen and the PPCK, make OEMs, etc... but haven't messed with porting or editing modules and the like. I'm sure i could figure it out being the "geek" that i am, but just don't have the time and don't have a background in that kind of stuff.

When i get home I'll throw the .rar you recmodded in my kitchen and re-build to see if i can get Opera 9.5 or 9.7 to work on those specific web pages i mentioned. Hell, by that time Whosdaman may have an even newer SYS posted in his thread lol !! I'll let ya know how it works :)

its in \SYS_2****_96DPI_0409\base_dpi_96_resh_240_resv_32 0/mxipcold_wpc_2.provxml
Thats why you cannot bypass it...Also,what you see after flash -its OEM of classicblue.Easiest way to cheat-rename your fave .tsk to .cab, make an OEM then rename images to classicblue_stwater_240_320.jpg and classicblue_stwater_320_240.jpg and delete unnecessary RGU just in case

Couple of Issues

Ok a couple small problems and am hoping someone has run into the same issues:

1) Is Biotouch removed from this build? I get a couple of error msgs that indicate its either missing or not signed properly.

2) When I disengage BT after using it with my headset the Vogue hangs. I have to soft reset to get it back to operating order.

Thanks,
Steve

Biotouch isn't built into the sys's.....you have to add it yourself

Biotouch doesn't get updated, the Vogue's and Rhodium's Biotouch is the same exact thing ;)

Hey Whosdaman,

Just a quick update... if by "messaging boxes" you mean swiping left & right to go from "text messaging" to other email accounts... apparently the MS touch drivers are running this too now :) because i didn't install any biotouch and mine works fine ... I didn't have to rebuild after all :)

and btw...

THANK YOU WHOSDAMAN AND VINNY !!! (for this SYS and ya'lls help with the Drivers_Vogue.rar and SYS_23004_Common.rar)

My new ROM is fast and stable with all the goodies i like! :)

p.s. - Vin, I cooked in your Opera 9.7 OEM and it still didn't seem to play nice even with the recmodded SYS_23004_Common.rar, so i rebuilt and cab installed the old 1957 build of 9.5 and it runs like a champ! I don't know what it was about that build but it always seems to be the best, plus it has all the extra settings options which are nice :)

I recmodded browsing .dlls and .muis in SYS_23001_96DPI_0409.rar in my kitchen, may be it makes the difference...
Im using PIE to download attachments from this website and from FTP links too...
Same with Opera 9.7.both browsers work fine for me...
I can upload commons and dpi rars,if somebody want them, but I must warn that I deleted many files from the sys(option.xml, widgets, office, mobile calculator, live search, modemlink, skybox, skymarket and all that stuff)
