Sweetness, haven't seen wine before.
Idk why, I should have found something like that already. haha.
And I hate android. It's nothing but google monitoring software.
I'm actually going to get the base package and finish the coding myself.
If you get a prepackaged linux, you might aswell get windows because then virus programmers can just go and code for that prepackaged system.
I just want it so I don't have to deal with viruses and adware sh*t
while I'm downloading movies and what not.

Re: OpenGL Driver

Exactly, linux there is no viruses, adware, or spyware....and even if someone does make a virus for linux, it's community run and all the codes are open, so nothing can hide....

MAC and Linux cant get hacked or attacked....

I love using Mac, but Windows just uses too many programs I need....So I have 2 hardrives, 1 Windows and 1 Linux, my MacBook Pro blows anything else out of the water....

Re: OpenGL Driver

Actually mac can.
Mac is just as vulnerable as pc.
No one bothers writing them for mac though.
There are a few every now and then,
but seriously, it's just as vulnerable.
Linux is just as susceptible too if you use a prepackaged linux,
because a virus programmer can look up that coding and write one for it.
(not saying all linux, just the prepackaged ones, like android for example, and so on.)

That's a major misconception people have about those operating systems.

cody cody cody...

sigh. Do me a favor, and learn a bit about linux... there are no documented user viruses - there are a number of server-oriented attacks (I know, I see 'em in my server logs every day) but viruses? No.

Yeah. Like yours

Android is an example of something that runs on top of Linux. It's not Linux. Linux is the kernel.

Just because there's no documented viruses doesn't mean there can't be one. He was saying there can't be one.

I was basically trying to state that it can have a virus, (especially macs),
so don't say it cannot have one.
I use to work for apple, and there are plenty of viruses out there,
usually apple handles them pretty quickly though, but not always.
Yeah, linux is the best though, but I was mainly talking about macs in that post about getting viruses and I don't know the correct terms for what I was trying to say with the linux thing. Sorry, I reread my post and it's not clear at all with what I meant to say.
I'll have to research more and find the correct terms for what I meant to say.

Re: OpenGL Driver

this is getting way off topic but i had to chime in...

what is the mac kernel built around?

answer that question and you will know that all oses can have viruses....macs and linux oses are not targeted because of the very low market share....why design a virus that will only affect 1/100 (if that) of computer users when you could create one that affects the other 99/100?

the saefest os is the worst os because noone will target it.

BSD/Mach

Both MacOS and Linux enjoy better security due to their far lower priority user level (seriously, everyone runs as admin for winxp, and winmo? Hey we're all root!)

Indeed we are getting far afield. However there is no doubt the security model of windows is badly broken.

Now, when are we getting that opengl driver?

Yeah, that's basically what I meant,
that all OSes can get viruses, but no one bothers making them.
I do know about mac's security measures, and they do a great job of catching 99.9% of the viruses/etc.
Although there are every now and then some that do get through their detection,(mainly adware type stuff)
but it's usually caught within a day or two max,
and then taken care of.

I'm not sure about the linux security measures and if they act the same way as mac's security stuff does, but from Whosdaman's post above it sounds that way, and I missed that part when I first read it. Sorry bout that.

I always have a way with leading threads off topic.
I run out of room in my inbox too fast,
and hate deleting messages all the time.

And I agree about the user priority level thing.

We are wayy off topic, but here's where we're at with the OpenGl driver,
we still need this:

Anyhow there is one more missing link and that is clkregim, the rest seem compatible and do not require wrappers hopefully.
To read the whole post and not just the part that I quoted above,
