Offical Web And MMS Setting For Metro Pcs!!! Please Sticky!!!

First let me say this was hard work to figure out! THANKS to KAREEM FOR THE HELP!!!
OK this is how to get wap and mms on the HTC VOGUE on metro!!!!
please sticky!!!!

WAP

1: Check your Windows\startup folder for "HTC_CM_Guardian.lnk", which is a shortcut to Windows\HTC_CM_Guardian.exe. If the shortcut exists delete it. If not then you probably have a newer Sprint ROM which doesn't have the shortcut to launch that application. It is still launching it in some other way however and I have not been able to figure it out from searching forums and the web. The general consensus is to replace the file with a dummy file that I've attached (extract from the zip). Download the attached file and replace "Windows\HTC_CM_Guardian.exe" with the dummy file which will prevent it from running.

NOTE: This file is what resets your Sprint connection to its default settings despite editing these settings. Disabling this file by deleting or replacing it is critical. You may need to use a program such as Resco File Explorer or another File Explorer utility to overwrite/delete/rename Read-Only or ROM files.

2: Rename the following files and folders:

Windows\iota.exe ---> windows\iotaOLD.exe
Windows\iotaconf.txt ---> windows\iotaconfgOLD.txt
Program Files\IOTA ---> Program Files\IOTAOLD

NOTE: renaming the IOTA folder is probably all that is needed however I found the files as well and renamed them for good measure and haven't had a problem.

3: Open your phone and enter ##778#, select "EDIT" and enter your unlock code.

4: Set the following values:

M.IP Settings:
MIP_MODE = Simple IP Only

M.IP Default Profile:
NAI = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com
Home Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)
Primary HA Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)
Secondary HA Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)

Security:
HDR AN AUTH User Id = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com
PPP USER ID = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com
PPP PASSWORD = metropcs

5: Goto Connections and delete any existing connections and setup a new one using the following settings:

Number to dail = #777
Username: yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com
Password: metropcs
Domain: (Leave Blank)

Select Proxy Settings and enter the following values:
wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (http)
wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (wap)
wap.metropcs.net port:443 (secure wap)
wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (socks)

6: Back in the "Connections" screen where you have two tabs at the bottom of the screen of "Tasks" and "Advanced", go to Advanced, click on "Select Networks" and select the name of the connection you just setup.

Example if you leave as Sprint then choose that one as your internet connection and do it for both settings.

MMS

MAKE SURE YOUR WEB IS WORKING PROPERLY (ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS) AS YOU CAN'T HAVE MMS WITHOUT WORKING INTERNET!!!!!

Remove/Uninstall any existing MMS composer you have attempted to setup. Also a good idea to remove any registry keys it may have created that are left behind after the uninstall.

1: Install Arcsoft MMS version 5.0.70.24 from Verzion.
2: Open your Messaging and click on the SMS/MMS option.

3: Click on "Menu" and select "MMS Options" then select the "Servers" tab.

4: Add a new server with the following settings:

Server Name: metropcs
Gateway: wap.metropcs.net
Port number: 3128
Server address: http://mms.metropcs.net:3128/mmsc
Connect via: SELECT EITHER THE CONNECTION YOU SETUP ABOVE OR "The internet"
Send limit: 399K

5: Click "Done" and then set the new server as default.

6: Using a Registry Editor edit the following values:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader]

DELETE KEY -> "X-VzW-MDN"
ADD STRING -> "X-metropcs-MDN"="XXXXXXXXXX" ( Insert your 10 digit phone Number )
ADD STRING -> "X-DEVICE-MIN"="1XXXXXXXXXX" ( Insert your 10 digit phone Number WITH the 1 in front of it )

I have been searching and searching on how to get my mms working on my htc mogul. I got the internet working but now I am working on my mms. I've never worked with the registry before and it says to delete and add strings. I know this may be a dumb question but are we deleting and adding to the directory? I think thats why I cant get it working because everything else is exactly the way it should be.](*,)

Where do you find these files on the phone? I have been looking for a couple of days now and have not found them. They are not in the windows folder. Also is there any rom that will bypass changing these files and get internet/mms working? Thanks in advance!

HELLO!! well i've done the internet part, and it works perfect!

Now on the MMS I've downloaded the Arcsoft, and put the settings in exactly.

I opened the registry editor and when i went to the folder indicated,

the KEY to be deleted wasn't there...
Is this why it won't work?

I thought if it isn't there then it's good.
So i went on and put the other 2 strings in that folder.

Another question...are the parenthesis part of the value?

Anyways so what to do if the KEY to be deleted isn't there?

PLEASE ANYONE! thanks!:violent2:

Re: Offical Web And MMS Setting For Metro Pcs!!! Please Sticky!!!

That is a bit weird. That VZW key is usually always there, but you might have gotten a coyp of arcsoft that someone may have deleted it for you already. Just put those two new string values WITHOUT THE ().

so it will read like this: X-metropcs-MDN and X-DEVICE-MIN

remember the MIN string will have the 1 in the front of the number and the MDN will not have the 1 in the front.

Also if your MIN is different when programming your phone, put the MDN number instead even though that string states MIN.

Good luck.

thank you first of all for replying!

2nd, is there a newer version of the arcsoft thingy?
or does it have to be that one? because i think i remember seeing a newer one from sprint or something like that.

Ok so parenthesis don't go, got it.
My guess neither do the quotes right?

OH AND ANOTHER THING!

in step 1 and 2, the file htc_cm_guardian.Ink replaced by what dummy file?

and i found the files in step 2 to be renamed...would any software that as said can
overwrite/delete/rename Read-Only or ROM files will work?

These are the additional setting I needed (I use metro in the bay area)

under M.IP settings of the EPST:
MIP_MODE= "Mobile IP Preferred"

under the modem settings -> advanced menu (on User/PW screen)
uncheck "Use slip"
check "Use software compression"

Does anybody know how to make internet/mms working on android phones? I have HTC Hero (Sprint) and need to get web working, so I suppose the way it should be done for android phones is different.
Thanks!

That is why sprint users need GetSPL. I am not sure of other carriers. We should start a thread that looks like the following....
MSL Unlock Code
Verizon = 000000
Cellcom = 000000
Sprint = (Use GetSPL)
Alltel = ??????
AT&T = ??????

Re: Offical Web And MMS Setting For Metro Pcs!!! Please Sticky!!!

I have a question for anybody that can help. I followed all steps in the first post and all went well...for a while. Now for some reason the internet is still working, but mms isn't. I'm currently using 'Energy' |Jun 2|21907|MaxSense. I'm running the same rom on two tp2s so I don't think it's just the rom
Help please!

p.s. I have used the cabs out there for this as well, but it hasn't fixed it.

Other than this problem it these settings have been such a great help, thank you so much to everyone that contributed to figure this out!

All flashed phones period are now targeted by Metro pcs to stop data connection for msm or internet regardless of flasher(meaning legally or illegally.)So currently or shortly your flash phone will be only text & phone period!For more information on this Check Howard forum.

I read that somewhere, but I believed that if that was happening the internet wouldn't be working as well as mms. I was playing with the phone that had a problem and I think I fixed it. I installed the Ryan Mogul's 'MMS Fix Metro WAP and Arcsoft5.2.3.22' cab (HUGE THANKS), then went in and changed the setting found at the start of this post from 'wap' to 'proxy' then restarted the phone. I was able to both send and receive picture on the phone that I have not been able to use MMS on for weeks. I've installed various cab files during those weeks, but this is the only thing that worked. It worked on both of my TP2s, hopefully this really is a fix and not a fluke

As some of you have realized by now, Metro Pcs Has Change Their Password and you can no longer access their web using the password "metropcs" , So Here's The Updated Web Settings.

1. Open your phone and enter ##778# Or ##778 Depending on Which ROM You Used, select "EDIT" and enter your unlock code.

2. Set the following values:

M.IP Settings:

MIP_MODE = Simple IP Only M.IP Default Profile:

NAI = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com

Home Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)

Primary HA Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)

Secondary HA Address = 0.0.0.0 (just delete the values and save)

Security: HDR AN AUTH User Id = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com

HDR An AUTH Password = Your 6 Digit MSL Number

PPP USER ID = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com

PPP PASSWORD = Your 6 Digit MSL Number

3. Goto Connections and delete any existing connections and setup a new one using the following settings:

Number to dail = #777

Username: yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com

Password: Your 6 Digit MSL Number

Domain: (Leave Blank)

Select Proxy Settings and enter the following values:

wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (http)
Username = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com
PASSWORD = Your 6 Digit MSL Number

wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (wap)
Username = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com
PASSWORD = Your 6 Digit MSL Number

wap.metropcs.net port:443 (secure wap)
Username = yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com
PASSWORD = Your 6 Digit MSL Number

wap.metropcs.net port:3128 (socks)

4. Back in the "Connections" screen where you have two tabs at the bottom of the screen of
"Tasks" and "Advanced", go to Advanced, click on "Select Networks" and select the name of the
connection you just setup. Example if you leave as Sprint then choose that one as your internet connection
and do it for both settings.

NOTE: To Get Your MSL Number Go To "http://www.whiterabbit.org/android/"
And Type In Your 11 Digit ESN Number And Hit Calculate,
It Will Give You Your 6 Digit MSL Number, Use That For Your Password.
