Or will you soon release an updated Sprint Custom ROM?

Thanks!

I'm not sure what your question is. ICS was fixed, no need to run a cab. I simply renamed the data connection to "data connection" instead of Sprint PCS......this is only in the generic rom, the Sprint rom still says Sprint PCS.

For now, I'm only working on the Bell based rom.....give it a try, it seems to be abit better.

This probably isn't the appropriate thread to ask this, but I figure I'll get a good answer here anyway.... and I don't think my questions warrant a whole new thread. :mrgreen:

I'm still trying to get my mind around this stuff and I'm a little confused about...

Kitchens. OMJ is using the 19208 kitchen right? Most everybody else is using the 20270 kitchen right? What's that about? Is there really any difference in the final ROM or is the "kitchen" just a tool to take the chef's input and then output a ROM based on the OEM's that are included?

Radios. I see that the latest radio is the Bell 3.42.50 and a few weeks back the Sprint 3.42.30 was the state of the art. Are these just numbers or is there a real difference? Does the radio affect call quality and/or GPS?

Thanks in advance.

@denasqu
after I flashed my phone with Bell I had to call to Arthu. my phone with Vrizon, I hear clicks all the time and I was really going crazy and told my self that I did really bad choice to update the Redio. but after I finish update my call quality still good.

I don't know if any one know or not! the GPS luck in good 2 mins with Bell ROM in clear sky, and iGo 8 June build it will not work at all. it will frezz on splash screen. I don't see any different on GPS but overall the windows run way nicer.

The difference here is the WindowsMobile Build number or version. The 19208 is what Sprint and HTC has tested for months to work properly with your device. The 20270 is based off another phone (Diamond I think...) and ported over to work on your Vogue. These Roms are usually built with the PPCKitchen. I don't see much difference in the two and if 19208 was vigorously tested on the device I own, then that's the one I want! :) And use...

Why is your Clean ROM uses 10mb more program memory than the default Bell ROM? Is it the Pagepool?

Thanks

What's the difference between the Bell clean rom and your other clean rom? Shouldn't they be almost identical since you got rid of all the preloaded crap?

Also, the Bell rom uses a newer radio driver. Will that work with Sprint?

Thank You

hey OMJ!
Thanks for this,
how do we disable Shutter sound on the new bell rom, because it's no longer in the Camera settings :'(!!
I tried disableshutter in the regedit from 0 to 1. in the HTC/camera/common, didn't work.. Do you have any idea? or maybe re-upload an older version of the camera please?

Thanks a lot bro!

Kind of shooting in the dark with this one... I'm trying to make Quickmenu default to "replace the start menu" after a hard reset. I've been using the following regedit:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\AlenSoft\QuickMenu\Gene ral]
"ReplaceStartMenu"=dword:00000001

However, it never seems to stick and the default value remains at 0 each time. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong??

A Hard Reset will reload the rom as it was flashed to your device. So if you change something, then hard reset it won't survive. FYI...Quickmenu get loaded by placing a shortcut to quickmenu.exe in the \windows\startup folder...

My posts are ridiculously unclear today! Let me try again. The regedit is located in an OEM I made (using your guide!), so it should be applied every time I hard reset. And its not that Quickmenu isn't loading. Its that one setting where it totally replaces the stock start menu. By default, you can access both by pressing different sides of the menu. I want only Quickmenu, but for some reason, the setting I specify using the regedit isn't sticking. Thanks for your help! :)

OMJ, thank you for nice ROM! There are some problems with IGO8, but it's ok, if GPSViewer is running.

But there is the problem with camera sounds. It will be nice if someone can help disable camera annoying sounds. May be just change ShutterSound.wav or Click.wav (one of them) file to silence.wav?

I'm running the generic custom 3.03.08 ROM on Verizon. Everything is sweet except Internet Sharing. It launches and connects fine but routes me to the dunsp.vzw.com page that offers me the extra $15/month plan.

What is missing? ... or need to be removed?

UPDATE: After trying a few things, renaming "rilphone.dll" to "rilphone.dll1" did the trick.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
"Extension"="rilphone.dll"

We may have a keeper with this ROM if I can turn off a few of the cutesy things like the % battery indicator (I need my task manager) and the button thing that loads. I'm getting amazing tether speeds, GPS is super fast, and I sware the call quality is better.

I'm still undecided on the flyout menus. I don't think I like them.

Most of my roms do not include the bootsplashs. I included the HTC bootsplashs in my 2 newest custom roms, because yes, if you flash the Bell official rom, it will write the Bell bootsplash.

You can flash this bootsplash image, it will hard reset ya, but it will only write the HTC bootsplash.

well that's definitely the right regedit. I just changed mine to 1 & soft reset, and it stuck, but I changed it via QM options instead of regedit.

ah yes, I left rilphone.dll in.....thanks for posting the fix.

the % battery is from QM, you can go into QM\option\view & uncheck "show battery on taskbar", then go into system setting to enable task mgr.

the button thing....delete the AEBPlus link in \windows\startup

you can try what denasqu suggested or go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing & delete the "Extension" key.

I deleted the key, tethered to my XP laptop, and all was good.

I just discovered that in Quickmenu when I need to use the traditional menu, i tap on the text START. Otherwise I click on Windows logo. How cool is that! Makes the whole OS stylus friendly AND thumb friendly.

Yes I did upgrade the radio first. Mostly I was hoping to get better call quality around my home which is a Verizon dead spot. That did improve noticably.

The GPS was always pretty good before so it's hard to say if it's better. I did notice that OMJ included the EnablePDEIPFromNV registry entry that I added to every ROM I tried. Still not exactly sure what it does but it made the difference between 10 minute locks and 30 second locks.

Great, I have a similar issue and was hoping it might help the issues with weak signals. I'll have to give it a try. I'm guessing I'll have to call Verizon to reauthenticat if I update the radio again.

Good luck! I had to call Verizon the 1st time but I've flashed 4 times since then and never had to call. All I do is pull out the 4Gb SD card and put the phone in "Airplane Mode" a few minutes before I start.

Yes, I did finally figure out what the issue was with this after flashing to another ROM that happened to have working ICS, then exporting the registry and comparing to this one.

It turns out this was a bluetooth PAN issue. If you were to use USB, it'd work fine. The following values were missing,

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BTPAN1\Parms]
"ConnectionTimeout"=dword:00007530
"BusType"=dword:00000000
"BusNumber"=dword:00000000

I believe ConnectionTimeout was the critical one, because without it the phone gives the the computer no time to respond when connecting, and as such fails. 7530 is 30000ms. This corrected the issue for me.

As for Extension=rilphone.dll, from my understanding that's simply to allow your carrier to track that you're tethered, and should be removed.

Time for my next problem. See attached image. Is anyone else noticing that in the Messaging compose window, the HTC auto-complete is appearing above the text you're writting, rather than in the slot beneth the text and above the keyboard? Previously it appeared where I was expecting, but in this ROM the auto-complete text appears to be a larger font, and doesn't fit where it should. Anyone else seeing this, and/or know the fix?

Speaking of the SMS app, what makes this one only allow 140 characters (the stock is the same), while I've run the old gpstest2.1 from jakdillard which allowed 160 (standard SMS size)?

Can anyone please answer me, if I use network sharing, Internet sharing I mean, is it free for Bell user ? I am a Bell user in Canada.
Or does it cost money for a laptop to use the internet on my cell?

In your contract it specifically says that they can bill you the normal data rate if you tether it to your laptop ($0.05/KB). So, take that how you want, whether they can detect it or not is another issue.

I suspect you have the "Mobile Browser" option from Bell, which is specifically for "on device" data. Again, whether or not they can see it is a different issue.
