When I run BuildOS.exe I get the error:

"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configurations are incorrect. Please check the application event log for more detail"

Has anybody else encountered this?

thank you again for this post rstoyguy. all i ended up doing was download Dogguy's kitchen and it worked. i got it to flash just the way i wanted it...now just a few issues to clear up.

getting ride or that annoying "this program is from an unknown publisher..." Edit:think i figured this one out will update once i can cook it in tonight.(not that most people here probably don't already know how to do this but i searched and found it...i think)

and disabling customer feedback thing...thanx again.

Delete/move your OEM's from the ..\kitchen\OEM directory one by one until you find the culprit. Either a directory inside a directory, or a tainted option.xml file. Once you find it, you can focus on that OEM...

The unknown publisher...Something from ppckitchen_oem.rar or the link file from an OEM can't find the .exe whereever it got copied to. Check your initflashfiles.txt and then check the contents of your .lnk file to ensure they are pointing to the same place. Disabling customer feedback, I haven't searched for that, if you find it post it so I can put it in my future releases!

the message i'm talking about is just windows saying you know untrusted program are you sure you want to run it? yes or no? it's a policie reg entry i think i found it i was able to set it after flashing just gotta see if it will get cooked in when i get home. i will search for customer feedback....probably just have to delete a exe

edit:did a little quick search(i'm at work so can't sepdn to much time browsing) and it seems that in order to get rid of customer feedback you have to replace custsat.dll with a dummy file...tried searching for that but came up empty...

Note: If you already have a built rom, to upgrade without starting over...
1. Replace ..\Kitchen\OEM\OEM_Lang_0409\initflashfiles.dat from the archive...
2. Copy the ..\OEM\zzz_My_Start_Menu_OEM from the archive and drop it into ..\Kitchen\OEM\zzz_My_Start_Menu_OEM
3. EASY STUFF RIGHT!
Other carriers will be added as I do them...

--- I organized the device's Start Menu in ..\Kitchen\OEM\zzz_My_Start_Menu_OEM. This contains the file movement commands from ..\Kitchen\OEM\OEM_Lang_0409\initflashfiles.dat. I essentially moved them to this OEM's initflashfiles.txt file. You can look in here and get a feeling for how I did it.

DO NOT REMOVE THE FOLLOWING ENTRY THINKING IT IS THE WELCOME CENTER!!!
IT WILL CAUSE YOUR DEVICE NOT TO BOOT!!!
Directory("\Windows\StartUp"):-File("Welcome.lnk","\Windows\welcome.lnk")

It's the link to run customizations at boot!
