I've removed all the MSMETADAT and xml crap from the sd card. It works when the sd is not present (ie does not get stuck in search). Windows media sees the music no problem. I have and 8Gb Sandisk micro sd.

for running DMrouter.exe, i had to instead use Fred Task manager(http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm), and run the application through its Run command (and literally type in /DIAG for the args). Resco's Run and ##3424 method didnt work for me. Also i only saw the 2 USB ports in the portion when you need to add the 2 ports (their pic has more ports).

also make sure GPS registry settings afterwards are on in HLKM/Software/HTC/SUPL AGPS

Problem solved! There was an offending song on the microsd (from No Doubt of anything ;) ). I don't know why, but I rebuilt my collection one by one and tried it. It now seems stable. If it ever happens to someone else, try this. It seems the new audio manager is more finicky, since that song was never a problem before. Anyhow! Loving the ROM!
