I spent some time working on this last week and think I found the answer (at least it worked for me). It seems all the themes are designed to modify the original skin. OMJ did not create this rom with the original skin, but rather with one he preferred. Basically, you need to revert the theme back to the original (both the graphics files and the original HTCHomeSettings.xml file) and then apply the theme of your choice. The original graphics are linked at the end of that post (original blue default skin), but I can't remember where I got the XML file. You might want to try searching for it, or I will see if I can locate it again tomorrow.

Make sure you have TouchFLO disabled from your today screen before you try changing anything. Otherwise, files will be locked and may not be replaceable.

I copied the HTCHomeSettings.xml file from Havoc's Teal Manilla theme and that gave me the analog clock, but it still has the white boxes from OMJ's digital clock off to the right hand side. I might hack the XML about when I've got some time, but if someone's got a genuine original HTCHomeSettings.xml it would be appreciated.

hmm....I'm still lovin M2D.....and it's clear it uses less power than HTC Home.

the default browser can be easily changed.....I working on another rom now that has PIE as the default.

I think it depends on where you are saving the picture.

The only major difference is M2D

a 3.09 rom :D if you dont plan on using M2D, you might want to flash a non-M2D rom just to save space

OMJ, I really like the M2D interface, but like others I miss the today screen plug-ins. (especially pocket sports center and GPS today) Is there anyway to create a widget for these ?

hmm, it sounds like a good idea, but TouchFLO is the actual plugin, so I doubt there would be the possibility of adding a plugin to a widget, but ya never know, we'll just have to keep our eye on the development of m2d.

now if you wanted to simply launch an app, I think that could be done easily...ie, youtube...here it the registry settings for it on the internet widget:

remember, m2d was created by HTC, so alot of it is hardcoded into the program.

Just wondering why you don't include it in your ROMs? Doesn't everyone now a days have a camera phone and would want to send Picture Messages? Also, I couldn't find the Acrsoft MMS, do you have it on your FTP page?

Sprint does not officially support MMS for the Vogue, not sure about Bell, but I didn't think they had it either. Now the new MMS cab for Sprint is out, but that would only benefit Sprint users, and I dont subscribe to picturemail.

With anything you like to use thats not included in a rom, it's just easier to install yourself.

Old Man Jenkins, as I said in your customizations thread, awesome awesome ROM...

I gather that the versions are based on the versions provided by the base carrier ROM, correct? IE the generic ROM based on the latest bell ROM is 3.09 because that is the version provided by Bell, and the current custom Sprint is 3.03 because of the same?

I ask, because I currently use your 3.03 custom Sprint, with no issues mind you, (because I like and use some of the sprint customizations, so it seemed easier this way...) and was wondering if you know of or see any advantages to installing the 3.09 generic rom and biteing the bullet and just applying all the sprint customizations to it? I mean, besides obviously gaining m2d from the m2d 3.09 generic version? Hope this isn't a dumb question...

has anyone got any idea on how to change the sms settings to 7bits 160char per message? it's currently 8bit 140char with this rom. disabling uni code support doesn't change anything. I have yet to find how to do it anywhere on PPCgeeks.

Hi OMJ,

I'm currently using your Manilla 2D ROM.

One thing I've noticed though that bothers me. Recently with any other ROM's I've used, my data connection is always on (always transferring data maybe). However with this ROM, it seems as though my data connection idles sometimes (the arrows grey out). While I understand that this may save battery life, it also takes longer to connect (update weather, browse the web).

Is there a switch or something to keep the data connection active?

if u look hard enough, u will find....

u got me alittle confused....but the bottom line is, 3.03 is based on sprint, 3.09 is based on bell. I'm a sprint user & have been using the bell based roms since the official bell came out. 3.09 just seems to be alittle snappier than 3.03 & GPS was working much better, though I dont use very often.

If u are happy w/ 3.03, I would stick w/ it unless you want to flash my 3.09 M2D rom. which sprint customizations are you referring to?

I assume M2D v2?

I just tested...disable TouchFLO in today. go into QM options, the view tab, uncheck show battery..ok...reboot

go to settings/system/task mgr/button tab. check enable quick menu on today....renable TouchFLO.

when your data arrows are grey, your data connection is active but currently no data being transferred.

when your arrows stay white, that usually indicates a conflict with your dialer.

they should not stay white!

omj.. i looked all through the /windows folder an cant find the sprint home plugin cab anywhere.. you know with the phone/music/gps/camera/tv links... hook a brotha up with some advice to save myself the 2 hours of searching lol.. i've been at it now for at least 45 minutes

Where is the option to turn off the shutter sound in the Advanced config of the camera? It should be under the grid option right? Hmm that shutter sound is annoying. Thanks for all your work OMJ!

open a registry program in your cell.
navigate to HKLM\software\HTC\Camera\Common and then go to the key called SourceOfSnapSound
remove everything after "\windows\" and keep it like that "\windows\"
then try the camera ! it works for all of us, and if you wish to reboot after, make sure you wait more than 30 seconds before rebooting after changing that registry option.

Need help upgrading XV6900 Vogue. It's a new phone that's never been activated with Verizon.

Ran Coke Unlocker 2.31 - no problems
Ran Sprint ROM without customizations - no problems
Ran OMJ Custom 3.09.01 with customizations - no problems

The system boots okay and all applications run however I can't get any cell service. The 3 dots under the antenna scan for a signal but don't find one.

Connection settings have been made for internet access. When I try to connect the EV changes to an X.

I loaded the dcd.verizon carrier 20080719 into the root folder and ran RAR thinking this may solve the problem. Received a message that the program was installed. I'm not sure if this was the correct thing to do or not. The thread was a little vague on this step. Still doesn't connect.

Phone number says (000) 000-4706. ROM is 3.09.666.1. Radio is 3.42.30.

lol, you'll be waiting for a long time.....M2D was ripped from another phone, it will never be official unless it came w/ the phone from HTC.....and you can forget about that on the Touch.

As far as I can tell, the current version is near perfect.

sounds like your PRL may need to be updated.....also, numerous Verizon users have had to call CS for auth key the first time after flashing.

I called Verizon tech support and spent over 1:30 on the phone trying everything from resets, network updates, etc. They couldn't get it working either and processed an order to send me a new phone.

I would still prefer to get this phone working (and return the replacement unopened) because I don't want to send them a modified unit. Obviously I never told them about the customizations during the support phone call.

If I can't get it working I need to know how to make the phone look close to factory ROM. I know it's not possible to match exactly.

Any ideas?

I would back up & flash a official rom, either Sprint or Bell. This will reflash the ROM & Radio. When you flashed the official the first time, did you skip the carrier customizations?

your first post said the phone wass never activated.....is it activated now?

The phone is activated and searching for a signal. Once I get the carrier working it should lock on to the towers.

I'm not sure what you mean by "carrier customization". I didn't let the customizations run with the Sprint ROM. Did a soft reset when it said customizing in 3 seconds.

I did let customizations run with the OMJ ROM and installed the Verizon dcd. Not sure if this is a correct step.

Perhaps I'm missing a step for the phone to communicate with Verizon. That's what it seems like.

What would it be?

carrier customization is when u see the 3 sec count down...my customs have that removed & replaced w/ user customization...so no harm there.

no, you didn't miss a step, you did it correctly, but like I said, I would reflash the Sprint Official rom....activated or not, your phone should not be constantly searching for signal.

you could also try to force it into roam.

did you flash before or after activating?

I've already tried to force Roaming and Home. This activates the tower search for a minute or two then displays "No Signal".

I upgraded flash, ROM, etc. before activating phone. I'm beginning to think I should have activated the phone first to confirm everything was working okay.

Besides the Sprint ROM and the OMJ ROM do I need to add anything else for a connection to Verizon or is this a function of the phone that's already burnt on a chip?

ok, so i searched through this thread pretty well I think but I can't find the answer to my question. I want to flash to the OMJ.3.09.Manilla.v2.exe rombut I'm on verizon and I want to make sure of this, do I let the customization run after flashing or reset before it runs?
