Re: NEW official Sprint ROM posted on XDA-dev by DCD

If I have the "Almost OEM" ROM, should I even bother installing this? Any noticeable differences?

Re: NEW official Sprint ROM posted on XDA-dev by DCD

I'm new to WM and upgrading ROMs... my Touch has the stock ROM. I run Sprite Backup every night. After upgrading the ROM should I restore from Sprite Backup or would it be better to install everything fresh?

Also with backed up text messages... will the phone thread them? Or should I start over with those as well?

Thanks in advance for helping a noob!

This is nothing like my Almost OEM 6.1 ROM. The main(and key) differences is that mine is a custom and the is a 100% official ROM shipped by the carrier. It does not include any of the extras that were in my ROM and It is a newer build.

When I first flashed to a Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM I was not able to use my sprite back up to restore the phone. Sprite did not like the fact that it was a different version of windows. I was able to salvage the PIM file from the backup though, so I did not loose my contacts.

That's what I was fearing. I guess I'll have to install everything from scratch and then customize my home screen and all that. Oh well, there goes the rest of my afternoon...

Thanks for the reply...

Have you tried flashing from a 512MB Memory Card formated with FAT32?

I feel your pain. I'm not even getting an error code - it keeps telling me I have updated it when it hasn't. I'm wondering if some files need to be renamed and everyone else knows about it but I don't. I noticed it says updating to image 0.0.0.0 on mine during the update process and I think the image file should read 3.5.0.0
