Re: Upgrading Tutorial For Verizon XV6900!!! Radio 3.42.30 with working GPS
I for one ran the BuildOS using thier VZ rom. It worked. I also did OMJ oem VZ rom, it also worked. I just got a replacement and am having cold feet. I can flash this new one with sprint and then some rom. I talked to a tech person at VZ who said that if Sprint has a new version, they will certainly have one within a week or 2 after. I guess since Sprint is not "official" yet, VX won;t have one til early August at this point. I just am in a quandry as to what to do at this point.

if you are going this way there is no going back so you need to decide no one else. if you want this update this is the way you need to do it. good luck! **Update** about the future update from verizon, do you thing they will enable all the options in this phone? I don't beleive so, like the GPS ( they want you to use there GPS option) and no JAVA becuse they don' want you install what ever you want ( there are saying for your own protection) So, what I beleive you will end up with is the windows update 6.1 and maybe some software update.. this is just me. there are running business and this the way they want it. I believe the key here is to transfer to another phone during or make sure the radio is off. |

Re: Upgrading Tutorial For Verizon XV6900!!! Radio 3.42.30 with working GPS
I believe verizon are cheap. Even though they have the most expensive unlimited plans. I find it to be funny. I pay roughly $160 a month! Rediculous! And Ive been with almost every carrier there is (Guess i'm a carrier *****!). They use the aGPS for E911 exclusively. Well that's what they're telling us. I do hear that vznavigator will be on WM6 PPC phones but require a $10 per month charge just to use the program. That's how they will charge. But we know that google and live search are free. they're scared lol. They already get us and HARD! So I don't understand why they can't just let one thing on the phone be FREE! Now they even have "Tethering" charge? REDICULOUS! I love ranting lol
And NO they don't release rom's because Sprint does. Why would a company admit that they are "followers"? Phone companies do alot of crap talk and empty promises to keep you content for the moment. Rumor does have it that verizon will be updating to WM6.1 but I highly doubt the radio will be acceptable. Last edited by negamann; 07-02-2008 at 01:58 PM. |

Actually, I wouldn't think they are scared at all of LiveSearch or google Maps. Neither offer turn by turn directions.
As for vzNav being a rip-off, here's what you get for $10/month: Turn By Turn Gas Pricing Traffic updates (in covered cities) Movie Info (slightly useless IMNSHO) Place Messaging Quarterly Map updates POI With Garmin & TomTom you have to pay the same price for the same features, except you have to pay additional annually for the map updates, plus you have set-up costs in either software and/or equipment. vzNav is definitely a better value than either of those. None of the free ones offer the same services as the paid. I do hope that the GPS comes unlocked, though. |
