From all of the forums I have read, you have a very good chance of being charged, somewhere down the road even if they see a flash. Too much $$ to not just brick it altogether!

So is pulling the USB mid flash enough?

If you can't get your phone authenticated back onto the network, REMOVE the battery for a minute. Then start the phone back up and dial *22801

This can be done instead of calling for a new a-key.

This will program a phone to alltel on the eastcoast. Altell is "b" side here. the correct one for eastcoast is *22800 as vzw is "a" side here.

I am looking through the new ROMs for sprint and OMJ's especially. Are there any new Verizon ROM's using the new sprint ROM?

drellisdee,
I have a 6900 on Verizon as well. I accidentally let Sprint customizations run on it. Since then I have reflashed it, skipped customizations and authenticated it on a Verizon "Preferred Network" (i have a triangle network icon). I can make and recieve calls and SMS, but cannot connect to the data network (says wrong user name and password despite me putting in the correct information ... <cell#>@vzw3g.com and password "vzw"). Do you know what I should do to get the data piece working again? And do you think my calls are being placed as "roaming" calls?

I'm using the 3.42.30 radio and re-flashed it using the PPCKitchen Verizon custom ROM.

Re: Upgrading Tutorial For Verizon XV6900!!! Radio 3.42.30 with working GPS

guys, I have to ask about:

AFTER THE UPGRADE, DO NOT TAP THE SCREEN TO BEGIN!!! IF YOU ACCIDENTLY DO, DO NOT LET THE CUSTOMIZATION RUN WHATSOEVER!
You can prevent the customizations from running by going through the screen alignment and other things then poking the reset button at the bottom of the phone with the stylus

when the phone says "customizing in 3 seconds".

can I just remove the battery from my phone to stop the CUSTOMIZATION ?

You made a big mistake letting Sprint customizations run... Im going to send you through a very risky operation.

In order to make your XV6900 Default back to verizon. you have to flash back to a stock verizon Radio/Rom.
Since verizon doesn't have a "Shipped" stock rom. some nice person made a stock rom for us :)

Your are a test dummy here. try this and see if it works. If anything it will brick your phone and you can get it replaced lol

Download and run:
ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/Im...e_unlocker.exe
after the unlocker DO NOT LET THE OS START UP!!! HOLD CAMERA+POWER+RESET buttons until it goes back into booloader(rainbow screen)
If it says 0.40.coke then continue...Leave it on the rainbow screen then flash

Flash to:
http://rapidshare.com/files/10745929...RUU_signed.rar
Let the verizon customizations run!

Then start the tutorial from the first step!!!

PLEASE let me know the outcome.
Im currently searching for a safer method
EDIT: NOT A GOOD METHOD

If you want to, Sure. I would just leave it at the "tap device to begin" Screen. It will still connect to activesync

I'm using OMJ's Sprint-based Verizon ROM and it's working fine. The only hitch I had was locked in roaming and AKey. The was handled easily by Tier 3 tech stripping and re-adding my phone. The first took a call to Fraud.

I believe you have to dial the whole five digits for the first recommendation. and it's #8899 for the second

IMPORTANT!!! To authenticate your phone:
REMOVE the battery for a minute. Then start the phone back up and dial *22801 (Thanks to Magicality)

Eastcoast Users Dial *22800 (Thanks to drellisdee)
If those don't work:
Dial #8899 To Get Your Phone Authenticated.

and if any one from verizon has used this ROM:
OMJ.WM6.1.GPS.OEM.Verizon
what is the different from PPCKitchen.org Vogue GPS 3.02 Kitchen?

I assume central isn't eastcoast lol. I say try one, if it doesn't work, try the other. If one or the other works, PLEASE let me know! Or in the end resort to the last option lol. I'm trying to get as much info as I can so There will be one page for every Verizon users reference.

Did you search through the posts on OMJ's thread at verizon users with success?

Re: Upgrading Tutorial For Verizon XV6900!!! Radio 3.42.30 with working GPS

Ok... Can anyone help a true newbie to the who updates etc... I barely got a couple reg hacks to work... I want GPS BAD. So... am I missing a couple key things even before getting the unlocker to work? Because everytime I try and install it I get an error about my connection. Active sync drops my connection right as I begin the download. It tells me to disconnect and reconnect and by that time I have all ready been dropped and need to soft reset the phone. I tried reading about Build OS. But, I am not sure what I need. I am running the BRAND NEW Touch Bought last Saturday evening. VERIZON with everything on my plan.

Any help would be greatly apperciated!

Don

Well to be honest, I dont think it's the phone. The computer is the culprit. or try to flash from bootloader By pressing the POWER+CAMERA+RESET buttons until you come to a ranbow screen.

Re: Upgrading Tutorial For Verizon XV6900!!! Radio 3.42.30 with working GPS

thanks negmamann for all the help! I did everything you have post and now I have my xv6900 with ("GPS") and windows 6.1 plus JAVA. I used OMJ's ROM becuase I don't know how to cook anyway :D. but thanks alot! oh one more thing non of the *22800 + *22801 or #8899 worked for me, I beleive because its a new phone I had to call 800 numbers and activated. not a problem. For my self high recommended to do these steps using a laptop (just me) because I have my PC out lead by my foot and I don’t want to turn off the power when I’m doing these steps.

Note: for people don't have any idea on how to do this stuff. after running Vogue_unlocker_MFG_2.31.exe you are not going to have it unlocked until you finish all prosecc.
and then when you start RUU_PPST_Vogue_SPRINT_WWE_3.03.651.2_Radio_3.42.30 _AM_NV_2.04_Ship.exe
you will not going to see anything on your barscreen until 10 or 15 sic (just let it run don't panic)

thanks again for all the help.

So I got my replacement phone the other day after letting customizations run last time](*,)....tried to redo the install on this new phone....unlocker 2.31, alltell radio, Hulk VZW rom. Looks like I'm now in the bucket of folks who have no data. Tried doing all the reauth steps including getting a new akey and checking all the connection settings but to no avail. SOooooo here's what i'm thinking and i'm looking for ya'lls opinion....someone in this thread suggested to move phone service to an older existing phone then move it back after flashing, he/she may be on to something....I think i proceeded unlocking the phone while i technically still had a live data connection running in the background and should have disconnected it first and perhaps left my data in a hungup state??? anyways...no data sucks and luckily the vz rep concluded the replacement i got is defective and is overnighting me my third xv6900! lol ...anyways, SUGGESTIONS please I don't want to screw up again for a third time.

hi there,
I thing negamann did good job on how to do these stips, if I can do it beleive me every one can do it too . just one thing about ROMs as negamann said you need to make sure its for Verizon. I'm a new on Mobile GPS, I thing it will take about 45 up to 1 min to connect, I'm not sure if it normal or not. but every thing else work 100%. I did not do any of the config of network to get my data I just let verizon program my phone and then it restart by it self and then I have everything working 100%.

Here is what I would do: Get your new (3rd) phone and flash to the new sprint ROM. Don't let the customizations run!!!! Stop there, call Verizon, and re-authenticate. Just tell them that you did a hard reset. After authentication, make sure voice and data (forget about MMS for now) are working.

Then, flash to a super safe minimalist ROM. None of that hulk stuff. Flash to this:

ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/OM...rint.Clean.exe

You can safely allow customizations to run on that because OMJ removed the carrier customizations. Stick with that ROM permanently... its nice, safe, and stable and you'll have good GPS and RevA speeds. You'll need to install arcsoft to get MMS.

I for one ran the BuildOS using thier VZ rom. It worked. I also did OMJ oem VZ rom, it also worked. I just got a replacement and am having cold feet](*,). I can flash this new one with sprint and then some rom. I talked to a tech person at VZ who said that if Sprint has a new version, they will certainly have one within a week or 2 after. I guess since Sprint is not "official" yet, VX won;t have one til early August at this point. I just am in a quandry as to what to do at this point.

we understand your feeling, and its up to you if you want to do it or not!
if you are going this way there is no going back so you need to decide no one else. if you want this update this is the way you need to do it.

good luck!

**Update**
about the future update from verizon, do you thing they will enable all the options in this phone? I don't beleive so, like the GPS ( they want you to use there GPS option) and no JAVA becuse they don' want you install what ever you want ( there are saying for your own protection) So, what I beleive you will end up with is the windows update 6.1 and maybe some software update.. this is just me. there are running business and this the way they want it.

Appreciate that man. So, here I go:drunken:. I agree with your take on the VZ update. They probably will find a way to charge you for GPS, etc. I have an unlimited plan, so the program cost would be about it. What would the java be for? Wish me luck.

EFFING SUCCESS... I am just in awe! Thanks to all, this has been a major learning experience.
I believe the key here is to transfer to another phone during or make sure the radio is off. =D>=D>:headbang:

Re: Upgrading Tutorial For Verizon XV6900!!! Radio 3.42.30 with working GPS

I believe verizon are cheap. Even though they have the most expensive unlimited plans. I find it to be funny. I pay roughly $160 a month! Rediculous! And Ive been with almost every carrier there is (Guess i'm a carrier *****!). They use the aGPS for E911 exclusively. Well that's what they're telling us. I do hear that vznavigator will be on WM6 PPC phones but require a $10 per month charge just to use the program. That's how they will charge. But we know that google and live search are free. they're scared lol. They already get us and HARD! So I don't understand why they can't just let one thing on the phone be FREE! Now they even have "Tethering" charge? REDICULOUS! I love ranting lol

And NO they don't release rom's because Sprint does. Why would a company admit that they are "followers"? Phone companies do alot of crap talk and empty promises to keep you content for the moment. Rumor does have it that verizon will be updating to WM6.1 but I highly doubt the radio will be acceptable.

I believe the key here is to transfer to another phone during or make sure the radio is off. =D>=D>:headbang:

Actually, I wouldn't think they are scared at all of LiveSearch or google Maps. Neither offer turn by turn directions.
As for vzNav being a rip-off, here's what you get for $10/month:
Turn By Turn
Gas Pricing
Traffic updates (in covered cities)
Movie Info (slightly useless IMNSHO)
Place Messaging
Quarterly Map updates
POI

With Garmin & TomTom you have to pay the same price for the same features, except you have to pay additional annually for the map updates, plus you have set-up costs in either software and/or equipment. vzNav is definitely a better value than either of those.

None of the free ones offer the same services as the paid.

I do hope that the GPS comes unlocked, though.
