found this post by holo in the titan forum, but tried it on my Vogue and worked spectacularly!

I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH - Verified working with sprint - all others try at your own risk!!!!

Background info:
This updates your PRI, allowing access to sprints GPS assistance server.
It is taken from the 3.49 beta customizations from the titan

Steps:
1. Unzip cab file from:
ftp://ppcgeeks.com/Vogue/Users/No1USTAD/PPST.zip

2. Go to the Windows Folder and click PPST.exe it will run, then automatically soft reset.


The ppst thread here for the vogue did not help me (couldn't find the ppst.exe file in windows with the normal file explorer (using show all files), however, after running this i was getting consistent locks at about 5 seconds COLD START, and locking on to 3-4 more sats than usual, up to 8-9 at a time.

odd. locks before were so bad i stopped using my internal receiver altogether, with some locks maybe occurring after 2 min. and i've never had one at my computer desk before, where i now can grab 4 sats in <10 sec.

Well. either way, I'm happy :-)

In my case, I am certainly _NOT_ questioning your experience. I too have seen the full specturm of results with the same PPST and Radio combination.

On my way to work today it took me two tries, a soft-reset and eight minutes to get a lock on 3 ... While at work, I did a hard-reset, installed the same ROM, ran PPST and when I walked out the door (for lunch), I had locked on 8 in about 125 yards of walking.

awesome. i was missin out and gettin extremely jealous of all the people here getting powerful locks so quick when i was one of the first to actually get it on our phones! but not anymore. woo!

this is mainly for ppl who are in my position to give it a shot, cause we all know waiting for the official update is not worth doing...

Sounds like a cool fix for people that are still having problems.

I will probably end up going with the official sprint update when it comes out due to the battery drain issue. Although, if I soft reset after using GPS, I don't have the crazy battery drain.

Finally, it works!!!! Since I didn't use the leaked rom, but a cooked one, I didn't have the ppst file. I didn't want to have to flash twice and reinstall everything again.

Thank you for this, I have been getting an average of 4-5 sat on my touch lately, and this is aftera wait ofup to 5 minutes. I ran this cab and updated ppst.exe and got 9 SAT immidiately on restart, no more spinning arrow in TOM TOM.

So, how is this any different than the other PRI cab floating around? I'm tempted to try it anyways, because I'm having GPS issues... I usually have to soft-reset to get it to come up...

When I first load up my ROM, it works great, but by the time I customize it with my favorite applications, GPS is crap... not sure if it's the applications, or just time....

for me it was the same thing, worked good at first. But even when I first loaded the ROM i never got as many locks as i am getting now, I would say go ahead and try it there is nothing to lose.

Not really sure. but i am sure there's been a bunch of variation when figuring out what works when mixing the whole radio, ROM, ppst, prl, pri, etc etc in terms of getting the gps to be spot on. definitely try it out

Will this work for Bell users too? I remember Bell users being able to run the sprint PPST/customizations without bricking but rather updating their PRI to 2.03 [not sure of the number].

Yea the first Sprint PRI (2.03) will work fine on Bell, I dont know about the newest 2.04 tho, try at your own risk

please excuse the noob question, but i just installed the leaked sprint rev-a/gps rom last nite (wwe_3.03.651.2_Radio_3.42.30). can i download this cab and install it on my phone in addition to that rom?

That is exactly my actual situation (I'm running the HTC July 21th ROM). Will this cab enhance my Vogue in anyway or is just the same PRI that comes with the actual ROM?

if you read scrotums further posts on page 2, this fixed his problem. my Average locks are about 6-7 sec from a cold start.

Quick question regarding this update: (don't mean to hijack)

Will this possibly help with slow EVDO/Rev A since the released update? GPS seems pretty good, but my EVDO has sucked since this update. I get no more than 200 to 400K in the best case with 3-4 bars of signal strength.

Well, I tried this but my GPS didn't get any better. Still takes several minutes to get some locks. BTW, I'm running HTC's July 21 ROM.

I'd like to know this as well... sucks so many Sprint people and hardly any Alltel... Never know what I can do without having problems...

Would this brick a phone or would a hard reset fix it if you tried it and it didn't work?

Not sure, but if you're unhappy with your evdo, it certainly won't make it worse if you're on sprint.

it wont work well with alltel, but if you do decide, you might be able to run an alltel ppst off the official rom to fix it, but that's just me theorizing. sorry man.

Anyone know how to undo it? I had better performance before I ran it. Will a hard reset fix it or is it in the radio and I have to reflash the radio.

hard reset wont fix it. i believe you'll need a diff ppst (i.e. your old one) and run it over this one.

i have the exact same problem. I tried this when it was first posted, then again today. still no luck. At the end, the installer states that installation was unsuccessful..
anyone else having this problem?

You've either got a bad Touch or you need to install the new ROMs. I am currently running the updated Sprint ROM and DHarvey 2.9.6. Locks at most in about 30 seconds on 5 sats iniside.

not true at all. tons of people are having problems with GPS, hence all of the threads on the subject, but thanks for playing.

mine worked at first, no problem. Then, it stopped working. I updated the ppst, it worked a few times, then it didn't. I changed the GPSMode setting, it worked, then it didn't. I changed it again, and it worked, then it didn't.
So, mine seems to have a pattern of working for a few days after a change, but then crapping out completely again..

You know your Touch better than I. But I've got to add - given how flawlessly my Touch works with DHarvey's ROM - you need to return yours.

I've had mine for at least 6 months.

I understand that yours works perfectly. good for you. I don't want to put another ROM on, which is why I'm trying to find a solution (as are tons of other people) to the GPS problem.

All I'm saying is that we understand yours works. Congrats.
Clearly there are issues, where some GPSs work and some don't. If it was as simple as a ROM, that'd be one thing, but it's clearly not..
The fact that my GPS works for a few days everytime I make a change to the GPS registry shows there is something else we're still missing, at least with my phone.

I have a Verizon 6800 and get the same inconsistent responses out of the GPS on it. No amount of anything make a permanent fix.

On the other hand, when I purchased my Sprint Touch I had to update with the newest Sprint ROM. The GPS has worked flawlessly for the past 3 weeks.
