Re: Vogue GPS 3.02 Kitchen (w/ NEW Sprint Leaked ROM)

I read your summary on other thread.
It's really good and deserves to be added in the sticky top post.

Thanks a lot.

#3 - its normal for the unlocker to work very quickly, the unlocker also does not install any special rom.
#4 - what counts is that when you do the camera-power reset, you see Coke 2.31.
#5 - for gps, simply flash the new sprint leaked rom (this will give you the new radio), then flash whichever rom you would like. after that, run the ppst cab posted by boggsie, found in page 14 of the "sprint gps still not working" (or what/e) sticky. after that, run "ppst.exe" found in the windows folder on your device.

then you're good to go!

it is strange that winmo wont really boot up but...not sure what to tell you there. just do what i said and you should be fine.

also...here is a list i have posted a few times in different places trying to help ppl out, thought i might as well throw it out there...

#1- Backup.
#2- Ensure you are currently running your carriers original official oem rom (os and radio) (if you have never flashed it at all then dont worry youre good to go).
#3- Unlock using imcokemans 2.31 unlocker (for gps roms)
#4- run the sprint leaked rom.exe (here, close to the bottom where it says "original rom")
#5- allow all customizations to complete and run (i know - it takes a lil while)
#6- allow reboot, then navigate to \windows and run ppst.exe
#7- allow reboot, then check device information in settings to ensure a ~2.03 pri and ~60612/60610 prl.
#8- flash to desired rom.
#9- after she's all booted up, hard-reset.
#10- download and run cab from here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=139
#11- allow soft-rest.
#12- navigate to \windows folder and run ppst.exe
#13- allow soft reset.
#14- allow boot-up, customize, restore pim info etc...

what does this mean? I don't know if my GPS functionality is affected.

With the leaked ROM and OMJ ROM (with a PPST installed from a cab) it was alright.

Now I installed that PPST cab again and it runs well.
What option could cause this?

Thanks,
the cab not only puts the actual ppst.exe in the windows directory, but also other required files for the exe. the exe is not completely standalone and will not run properly (as you experienced) without the use of the cab and the proper files. (thx for the cab boggsie!!)

i cant say that i really even know what trueflo ui is...?? do tell. but as for the other things, im sure you can just google them and install via cab. then if you wanted to go the extra mile, either google their respective oems, or make them into oem's yourself (or ask me to).

Using google maps or gps viewer it sits there searching for satellites and I have sat outdoors for 30 min with no fix. I have done the reg edit to mode 4 also but it seems to never get an agps either and yes location is on and I have power cycled the radio as well. A spare mogul I converted to vzw (still has sprint pri too) will gps and agps lock within 2 minutes in the same location but the touch will not.
so...lets see do you have any gps primers on either device? i guess if the sprint pri is working for vzw...maybe you could try installing the ppst cab and exe? im pretty darn sure that would fix you up (as long as it didnt screw things up with being vzw).

try installing astro-gps on your touch as well as gps kick start (just google both) and see if that helps.

good luck and keep us posted!

and thx i appreciate that. though im not sure how much credit i deserve there as all the info contained therein i have gleaned from others (posts)....tho i guess most everything here is that same case - just ppl learning from one another. not to mention that it is so short, simple, and not all that explanatory.

thx tho! ...lol.

Has anyone tried the original leaked ROM link in the first post? I keep getting an error when trying to open the file that the archive header is invalid.

Oh, I mean the "Cube rotating" animation UI, on one of the screen there are six buttons for "Software Store", "Internet Explorer", "Comm Manager", "IM", "SMS", and "Mainbox". The "IM" button doesn't work. I do installed Windows Live (and live messenger). Maybe some registry key is missing and the "IM" button doesn't know which program and where is Live Messenger to launch.

again, you'll never see it if you're in bootloader.

It installs a modified bootloader ROM - not the same as radio/os/extedned ROM

Hard reset generally not required, but you should do it right after flashing and before booting, not after.

Please keep in mind that if you're not SPRINT, you DO NOT want Sprint customizations to run.

thanks, i agree with everything you said. and i apologize for not updating my list. i have posted it about 3-4 times now and it is hard to remember where/when...i think ill soon just be deleting all of them and sticking a link in place instead, pointing to my flashing how to thread modified for gps.

but i have now edited it to reflect more accurate info as my other posts concerning that do.

however, about the hard-resetting...i recognize (as i think most all of us do) that it is not required, however i have seen it mentioned a number of times as good practice. it seems crazy to me that a flash woulndn't whipe out something that a hard reset might but...whatever
so basically my question is: what is the deal with hard resetting after flashing, and why would you recommend the timing you do?

thanks.

In theory, the bootloader will clear mem on it's own after a flash (this is not true of older devices, where the practice was necessary). The only reason for manually doing so, is if it didn't quite clear everything. Not real likely, but I suppose it's always possible. The reason for sequencing the hard reset BEFORE you boot (if you do it at all - I have yet to see where it helped anyone on this device) is that there's no reason to make the OS completely initialize twice. Also, the hard reset isn't going to clear any more/less because you let the OS boot. So, save yourself some time and flash, optionally hard-reset, then boot.

gotcha ok i see thx for elaborating.

and just for an instance on the vogue...derek once had this issue; bt wouldn't work directly after flash. hard reset, and it worked. after reading that is when i started doing it...

thx!

Re: Vogue GPS 3.02 Kitchen (w/ NEW Sprint Leaked ROM)

ok so i have a new problem. start menu ->settings brings up a backround app and locks up my touch. hmmm

I don't get it.. it was working fine.. then bam.. can't get to settings

I've cooked up some new kitchens.. differnt configurations.. cutting out some of my favorite apps.. no avail..

but it doesn't happen with the stock leaked rom. Guess i'll go back to that and load my apps manually.

weird. I loaded quickmenu manually and hte setup works fine.
